Just finished. It is a cross between Shakespeare's Othello and The Merchant of Venice and Edgar Allan Poe's The Cask of Amontillado. It was very good.

I love Christopher Moore, he makes Shakespeare fun! This one is a mix of Othello and Merchant of Venice with a dragon shagging a fool to top it all. Good fun!

I loved this book. If you have a sense of humor and you're not put off by a little (aka massive amounts) swearing, you should definitely try this. 💖📚🐉🃏

If possible this was even more fun on audio than when I read it. Morton does a great job of bringing the story to life & I found it very difficult to refrain from rolling in the floor dying of laughter at work while I listened. After all, every work day can be improved with some heinous f***ery!

This book breathed new life into my soul. This is the second book in the Fool series. It reads like a standalone novel; great for me because i don't have the first one. It is based on three works: The merchant of Venice, Othello, and Edgar Allen Poe's The Cask of Amontillado. The plotting was impeccable. I could tell the distinct works from the dialogue and what was original writing. There is also a sarcastic narrator known only as the chorus.

This was full of silliness and snark, exactly what I was in the mood for. I find Christopher Moore a bit variable. Absolutely loved #ADirtyJob, found #Fluke pretty enjoyable and was very bored by #Lamb. But this was right on the sweet spot of action and smart-assery. And all the Shakespeare references and jokes were great fun.

"An albatross is a crashing great bird, innit? You can't just go garrotting a small child with it, that would be heinous, even for nuns."

For #awesomeaudiobooks these Christopher Moore novels are hilarious! 🤣🤣🤣 They are all read by Euan Morton. Fool is a parody of King Lear, Serpent of Venice is a Shakespeare-ish tale, and Sacre Bleu, though I haven't read it yet (I'm saving it), is apparently Toulouse-Lautrec trying to solve Van Gogh's murder. Seriously: laugh out loud, tears running down my face. Or maybe that's just me 🤣 #marchintoreading

Silly fun book. Love the witty insults. Here's how I envision the fool's confusion over serpent/mermaid...not my drawing. Serpent as confused as the fool about what it actually is! 😜

Mr. Moore is one of the most hilarious writers I've come across. I love his main character Pocket, such caustic wit!! Two thumbs up.

A fun mash-up of Shakespeare and Poe starring Moore's indefatigable and profane licensed fool, Pocket. If you enjoy Shakespeare for the outrageously rude insults, this will be your jam - otherwise a little slight overall.

Oh, take me back to Venice! Own this copy but also checked out the audiobook because Euan Morton is fantastic!
