The latest novel from the #1 internationally best-selling author of The Alchemist. There is nothing wrong with anxiety. Although we cannot control Gods time, it is part of the human condition to want to receive the thing we are waiting for as quickly as possible. Or to drive away whatever is causing our fear. . . . Anxiety was born in the very same moment as mankind. And since we will never be able to master it, we will have to learn to live with itjust as we have learned to live with storms. * * * July 14, 1099. Jerusalem awaits the invasion of the crusaders who have surrounded the citys gates. There, inside the ancient citys walls, men and women of every age and every faith have gathered to hear the wise words of a mysterious man known only as the Copt. He has summoned the townspeople to address their fears with truth: Tomorrow, harmony will become discord. Joy will be replaced by grief. Peace will give way to war. . . . None of us can know what tomorrow will hold, because each day has its good and its bad moments. So, when you ask your questions, forget about the troops outside and the fear inside. Our task is not to leave a record of what happened on this date for those who will inherit the Earth; history will take care of that. Therefore, we will speak about our daily lives, about the difficulties we have had to face. The people begin with questions about defeat, struggle, and the nature of their enemies; they contemplate the will to change and the virtues of loyalty and solitude; and they ultimately turn to questions of beauty, love, wisdom, sex, elegance, and what the future holds. What is success? poses the Copt. It is being able to go to bed each night with your soul at peace. * * * Now, these many centuries later, the wise mans answers are a record of the human values that have endured throughout time. And, in Paulo Coelhos hands, The Manuscript Found in Accra reveals that who we are, what we fear, and what we hope for the future come from the knowledge and belief that can be found within us, and not from the adversity that surrounds us. This eBook edition includes a Reading Group Guide.

I‘ve only read the tagged book by this #SouthAmericanAuthor, and wasn‘t impressed. Are other examples of his work worth reading?

#BiblioMAYnia @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620

Susanita It‘s a little polarizing, but I loved 5y
jen_the_scribe The Alchemist for sure. 5y
OriginalCyn620 I haven‘t read this author either. 5y
Lcsmcat This may be an unpopular opinion, but I find him pretentious and overrated. There are so many South American authors - no need to read one that doesn‘t click for you. 5y

This book is like the updated version of Khalil Gibran's The Prophet. I think that is why I found this one just okay. I could not stop thinking of The Prophet while listening to this audiobook. I think I would have enjoyed this more if I read the physical book instead. Still, it was very poignant and beautifully written. Jeremy Irons did a lovely job narrating. 3.5 out of 5.

Somehow, we find peace among books it feels like they're talking to us. And those words have a certain soothe in them which helps us cope up.

Just started this one. It‘s not what I expected or really wanted, but Jeremy Irons‘s voice is keeping me enthralled!

Defeat is for the valiant. Only they will know the honour of losing and the joy of winning
I am not here to tell you that defeat is a part of life: we all know that. Only the defeated know Love. Because it is in the realm of love that we fight our first battles-and generally lose. I am here to tell you that there are people who have never been defeated.
They are the ones who never fought.
They managed to avoid scars, humiliations...

I had a difficult time reading this book. Maybe it's because after The Alchemist I had such high hopes for a similar book...I've decided to begin another and see if that spurs my progress with it.

Our recent #summersantagoesostal box with all its amazing books & goodies (thanksagain @Megnogged ), sent me back in time to my winter gifts from @ptkpepe98
He marked this book with his favorite passages😍 Finally I began reading it yesterday, savored it slowly, as I waited for my son, busy in a bike shop.

ptkpepe98 I love that book! I hope you're enjoying it.😀😎 7y
kspenmoll @ptkpepe98 So far it resonates- want to share certain passages with my son. I am reading it in small bites. ❤️ 7y

As always, Coehlo shared some incredible wisdom in this book. There are sentences so powerful they make you clutch your heart. It's preachy in that signature Coehlo way, so you have to be in the right mindset when reading it.
