Everything I find paints anger as bad. I‘m tired of that. Some anger is justified. I‘m angry right now because I was supposed to have my cataract surgery today. I didn‘t have it because I learned, after sitting there for 2 hours & finally asking about it, that I needed an EKG before surgery. Did anyone tell me this? No. Was an appointment made for me to have one? Also no. I wonder how long they would have let me sit there if I hadn‘t asked? 😡

Seen a few feminist ones today 👍🏻
Finishing up how to be famous and as always planning on what‘s next. Happy first day of 2019 friends.
#NoFemmeber #NonFictionNovember Still on my TBR and definitely a #blameItonLitsy as Penny herself says in her book: “There‘s no point being nice in a burning world”. #IllMakeYouSorry Her essays range from US politics, to essays on Barbie dolls, pop culture and LGBT+ issues. Sounds like a must read!!!
A collection of fantastic essays on issues pertaining to contemporary feminism. It‘s intensely personal at times and doesn‘t pull any punches. #feminism #nonfiction #essays

A few from the feminist corner.
I took @Quasifesto 's advise. The book is amazing. Wish I could give a copy of it to every woman in the world.
I. Loved. This. Book. Collected here are many essays tackling various aspects of feminism, from gender fluidity, rape culture, feminist history and more. I really relate to much of what Penny writes and find her thoughtful, intelligent, and straightforward. I good read for anyone with an open mind.
What to read next? I cannot decide!
The last paragraph of Penny‘s essay written before, during and after the 2016 election. This is good stuff so far.
A great collection of essays. Very readable, honest and a real sense of how sexism and discrimination is prevalent in society. A point she seems to be driving home is that the ‘personal is political‘. It‘s divided into sections but a few of them obviously overlap. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Excellent book of essays. Laurie Penny is an evocative writer with a quick wit and a strong talent for systemic thinking and introspection. While many of these essays cover fairly basic social justice, socialist, and feminist issues that some readers may already know, Penny‘s prose is strong enough to make almost every essay entertaining and enlightening.
My #bookhaul from Powell‘s today! We went over after the Nutcracker (which I‘d never seen before) and apparently books along a certain theme appealed to me today. 😬 I also bought some gifts, which are not pictured. 🎁🎄
Only a few pages into this book and I can already tell it's going to be excellent. All politics are "identity politics" and using that term to describe certain causes over others is dog whistling. ??
This book gathers many of Laurie Penny‘s recent articles that have appeared in various publications (the first one in it was written just after Trump won the presidency). Her passionate writing about feminism is hopeful without being unrealistic. She knows her opponents, understands their arguments, and breaks them down. A must-read for those interested in feminism and gender issues.
A good read - very accessible up-to-date collection of essays from across the social justice spectrum.
Message - we can only make it better by sticking together, those rich, straight, white men don't want that so let's do it 😀👍
Currently reading. #recommendedtoyou by @mrozzz #autumnreads @Tiffy_Reads @JoeStalksBeck
@Cinfhen - books I would have given my younger self. All the current social justice books that are about. The feminist books about at the time were too academic, middle class and educated- I wanted something more inclusive - which gladly exist now
Saw this in every bookstore and museum and London but ran out of room in my suitcase! Sooo glad to have my own copy. 😁😁😁 #bookmail
Anyone else read this?

To write and speak and think about the world is to act on it. Everyone who does so brings their own issues to the table, their own passions, their own prejudices, their foibles and broken hearts.
