Death Before Decaf
Death Before Decaf: A Java Jive Mystery | Caroline Fardig
4 posts | 2 read | 12 to read
Perfect for fans of Janet Evanovich and Diane Mott Davidson, Caroline Fardigs captivating new mystery novel takes readers behind the counter of a seemingly run-of-the-mill coffeehouse . . . where murder is brewing. After her music career crashes and burns spectacularly, Juliet Langley is forced to turn to the only other business she knows: food service. Unfortunately, bad luck strikes yet again when her two-timing fianc robs her blind and runs off with her best waitress. Flushing whats left of her beloved caf down the toilet with her failed engagement, Juliet packs up and moves back to her college stomping grounds in Nashville to manage an old friends coffeehouse. At first glance, it seems as though nothings changed at Java Jive. What could possibly go wrong? Only that the place is hemorrhaging money, the staff is in open revolt, and Juliet finds one unlucky employee dead in the dumpster out back before her first day is even over. The corpse just so happens to belong to the cook whod locked horns with Juliet over the finer points of the health code. Unimpressed with her management style, the other disgruntled employees are only too eager to spill the beans about her fiery temper to the detective on the case. Add to the mix a hunky stranger whos asking way too many questions, and suddenly Juliet finds herself in some very hot water. If she cant simmer down and sleuth her way to the real killer, shes going to get burned. Praise for Death Before Decaf I was hooked from the first page. I loved it!Dorothy Cannell, award-winning author of the Ellie Haskell mysteries Caroline Fardig brings a fun cast of characters to life in Death Before Decaf! Parra, author of Engaged in Murder With a fair share of twists, turns, and a murderer I did not suspect, Fardig delivers a caffeinated romp and a promising start to the Java Jive mystery series.Book Club Librarian A delightfully charming mystery with humor, suspense and a cast of characters to die for.Moonlight Rendezvous I can see this being a series to help bring a younger audience to the cozy mystery genre.Musings and Ramblings [Juliets] temper plus a good sense of humor make her a great series protagonist, someone readers would actually like to befriend.Mallory Heart Reviews This book had me hopping from murder to love interest and back to criminal activities.Storeybook Reviews

Day 10 #AndItsAugust #DrinksonCovers Since it's morning & I need coffee, ☕️☕️☕️I went with this fun coffee house-set cozy mystery series with assorted coffee drinks on the covers. Death Before Decaf is the first book & the fifth book, Murder Over Mochas, comes out in October. ☕️#cozies #foodiecozies

rubyslippersreads But do they get avocado toast with their coffee? 😄🥑🍞 7y
monkeygirlsmama Great choices! I really like this series. Only reason I didn't use it for today's prompt was cause I've used them before for a photo challenge. 7y
DebinHawaii @rubyslippersreads They definitely should! 🥑🍞💚☕️😋 7y

#sizzlinsummerbooks Day 17: It's All A Mystery

Juliet Langley always manages to find herself wrapped in one mystery or another in Caroline Fardig's super fun Java Jive Mystery series. I can't believe I missed the newest book, Brew or Die, which came out in April! 😲Must buy immediately, because seriously how can you go wrong with a book series that heavily features a coffee house? Short answer, you can't. 😜😆☕️

#LyricalApril #Hello I love mysteries, both thrillers & fun cozy mysteries (bonus points if they are food related) like these that are little reading palate cleansers for me. I do often find myself exclaiming "Hello?!?!" to the main character either because they are totally not suspecting the right person, or figuring out whodunnit when I already have, or doing something REALLY stupid in their pursuit of solving the crime. I mean Hello?!?! ???

Cinfhen 🤣🤣🤣sooo true!!! 8y
Caroline2 Ohhh Death before decaff!!! What an awesome book title!! 😆👍🏻 8y
DebinHawaii @Cinfhen 😆👍 @Caroline2 It's a fun series. ☕️🔎📚 That's the first book, I think there are four now. 8y

jfalkens Have you read Joanne Fluke's Hannah Swensen series? It's food(with recipes) and mystery. 8y
DebinHawaii @jfalkens Yes. I have read the first ten or so and got a bit burned out on them but I have some more downloaded on my Kindle and I'll go back to reading them some day. 📚👍 8y
drokka Some series are worse than others for that, but yes, often I wonder how the MC can be so blind/thick/obtuse. 😂 Excellent way to think about the prompt! (Wish I'd thought of it) 8y
Reviewsbylola 😂😂 so true! Sometimes you just wanna shake them! 8y
DebinHawaii @drokka @Reviewsbylola Very true--some are worse than others & I definitely want to shake them sometimes! 😆👍 8y
