The Last Dragon Chronicles: The Fire Within
The Last Dragon Chronicles: The Fire Within | Chris d'Lacey
'David ran a hand through his mop of brown hair. Dragons. It was certainly different from his last set of lodgings, where all you got were spiders and the occasional mouse. "It's perfect," he said.' When David arrives at Wayward Crescent he has no idea what lurks inside the Pennykettle house. Only when he's given his own special dragon does he begin to unlock their mysterious secrets, and to discover the fire within...

We took part in the first #CincyBookstoreCrawl We visited all 12 Indy bookstores over the 2 day event (2 yesterday and 10 today!) that spanned 2 states. We were able to patronize each store without breaking the bank. The staff at each store were very friendly and we discovered some amazing hidden gems.

jdiehr You're doing a great job, mama! My youngest son used to accompany me to all kinds of book events, and it was so much fun 🙂 We went to a Markus Zusak signing, and he complimented me on bringing my son and exposing him to those kind of events. 14mo
Chelleo @CampbellTaraL Anytime! And yes, it was amazing! 14mo
Chelleo @Michreader3 I‘m looking forward to it! Thanks for the endorsement. 14mo
Chelleo @jdiehr - Thanks! Both my boys love going to book events but my youngest wasn‘t up to the full day of store hopping (he‘s a home body) but he loved the stuff his brother picked out. We usually find that authors are very gracious about engaging with the boys and we appreciate it! 14mo

I've read this book a few times now (and love it more each time), but now I'm actually going to finish the series, instead of getting distracted by other shiny new books on my shelves 😂

Finished this baby yesterday! Pretty sure it's a 3.5 star. I really loved the idea, but the execution just wasn't great. We spent 90% of the book focused solely on a squirrel with the dragons a very small subplot... It did make me smile a lot though! Hoping the next books will be better! 🤞🤞

Genre: Fantasy fiction
Date started: 10/30/19
Date finished: 12/2/19
Why I picked: It was already interesting because of the cover. I always like dragons that has different elements.
Background info: This was the first novel or book of the Last Dragon Chronicles. It is a series of dragons living in the Modern World. The main character is a 20 years old man named David Rain, he wants to find out the relationships between Lucy, Liz and the dragons.

We are also super excited about this one!!! There is something about Middle Grade and YA that has been exciting me lately! It‘s a new and fresh genre that has been quick, easy, and fun for me with all my heavy school work! And the kids enjoy the adventures too!

Madamereginald 👀👀 that one looks good too!! 6y

One of my favorite books growing up, Modern Fantasy, was a NYT Bestseller, TS's include IR, RA, LC, AS and PR. With no spoilers, this book did a great job capturing my imagination on turning Clay Dragons to life with something called the Fire. This book began with a normal college boy becoming a Tennant for Elizabeth and younger daughter, Lucy, and made a Clay Dragon, Gadzooks. This dragon ends up coming to life and written so it could be reality.

JordanL http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/genre-study-colla... Since this is a fun book to read, I feel that this would be a great way to have students explore the Genre, and have fun being able to identify its characteristics. 7y
JordanL I would read this book aloud as it may be fun to capture some of the moments in the book. Using Time Lines so students understand the events, which goes with ESOL 9. Also, having UDL 3.2 for understanding, that ways students can understand or get clarification on relationships between certain characters, and potentially use this as a cause and effect for the later parts of this book. #UCFLAE3414SP18 7y
