I'm going to be honest... I hated this book. Perhaps it was because I could not relate to the main character or maybe it was because I didn't like the main character at all. Regardless of the reason. I gave this book a chance but had to bail.

I wasn't expecting genius when I picked this book up, but I was surprised at how many unflattering quirks there were. As mentioned, repetitious and boring dialogue and action sequences that didn't make sense. The main character was also impossible to like or root for--she was nosy, couldn't keep a secret, and had very little to say. There were actually some awesome lines of prose in here which made the not great parts even more jarring.
Whoever edited this book must have been sleeping the whole time. There is so much of this. The narrator describes the object and then goes back to describe how it was acquired. Characters are acknowledged by name before the MC is introduced to them. The characters mishear each other a lot in dialogue which I think is supposed to be "accurate" speech patterns but just comes off as annoying because we have read exactly what it says? Yikes!
Started reading this yesterday at the Secretary of State..my husband and I bought a car! This book has an interesting premise, but so far I'm not totally impressed by the amount of times "okay" and "great" is used in dialogue. The dialogue is also extremely repetitive. It's not bad enough to ?? bail on it yet.
Let me just say that my library had the best looking new books today! I'm so excited!
Definitely not fine literature, but it was a good pallet cleanser and a quick silly read.
🤐 I just want to finish this book so I can start the two amazing books sitting on my nightstand.
And yet a third in my theme. Wonder when I'm going to run out of naughty books? I seem to have been stockpiling them for years but 2017 is turning out to be the year to read them!
I don't know why all the hate. This is a delightful book -- well written, engaging, sensitive -- about a woman trying to figure herself out with all the skill her 26 years allow (i.e. not much). She's trying to make a real connection with family, friends, coworkers, and love interests. Not an earth shattering story, but very relatable and true to life. Definitely not a trite or cliched 'chick lit' book -- not that there's anything wrong with that!
Sorry guys, but I had to bail. Terrible. Don't understand the hype it had been getting.
The dialogue was annoying and unrealistic. Boring. Immature. No depth. Yuck.
I was excited about reading this book! It sounded so funny!! It took me forever to get through, I'm now looking at everyone else's reviews and seeing I'm not the only one who had trouble! I didn't find Julia, the main character relatable! I had trouble cheering her on! Not enough character development!! I didn't bail, stuck it out to the end! This book was just too surface, not enough emotion!!
Oh my word haven't had any reading time lately, still trudging along! This week I will read! I'm so excited today for the penguin Randomhouse Fall Preview!! Hopefully I will get free books and meet awesome people! A perk of working in a book store!!!
Nothing was happening.
My husband is shopping for suits, so of course I'm in the car with a new book. 💁🏻
But first, #24in48!
Homestretch! This book is ... not good. I don't want to bail on such a short book but it may come to that. Sigh, suckered by a cover again! #Readathon
I tried. I did. I tried really hard. I sense something really good here, but I couldn't tolerate the "old woman" remarks or the remark that overweight women could be happy (umm, confused face). Maybe, I'm not in the mood to tolerate that right now.
Never mind the 100s of unread books on my shelves and my Kindle. There are even more at the library! 😁📚 (It doesn't hurt that working there means I get first dibs on the newbies, and Losing It was put in the catalog today!)
More free summer reading!! Yay I'm so excited!!!! Woot woot!!!
