If you like food, cooking and relationship angst this is a series for you. It is adorable in a one person is jealous of everyone, and the food looks so good.

Character-based #manga about a gay couple in their 40s. Shiro, a lawyer, is introverted & cooks to relax. Kenji, a hair stylist, is out-going with great people skills. Not much happens, but their life—grocery shopping, arguments about the household budget, frustration with parents—is realistic. The artwork is clean and delicate, especially in drawing human figures. When it comes to portraying food, it‘s nearly photorealistic. #LGBT #graphicnovel

Lindy @Reggie 😁Have you read anything else by Yoshinaga? I read the first volume of Ooku, but found it just ok and didn‘t go further. 6y
Reggie I haven‘t. Your description just reminded me of how I felt about Strange Weather in Tokyo. Have you ever read it. Because there‘s not a lot of plot but the in between moments are just wonderful. And every time the two MC‘s meet at the bar they go in to depth about what they‘re eating. 6y
Lindy @Reggie I haven‘t read it yet, but my friend @KathyR (who travelled to Japan with me in March) has highly recommended it, so it‘s on my TBR. 6y

Shiro‘s thought processes as he cooks are so detailed that you could almost recreate his meals exactly. I kept having to look up ingredients, such as zha cai: pickled mustard stem. Some things I‘m able to figure out on my own: mustard spinach is what I would call mustard greens. There‘s a recipe at the end of each chapter, too.

I totally agree. Once you eat decent bread, there‘s no going back to a supermarket loaf.

I was in love with this book when I read it four years ago but since then I‘ve read so many more comics and so many better works have come out.

Everything involving the food is lovely and makes me hungry just looking at it. But I‘m a little nervous about how Yoshinaga plans to developer the characters and their relationship. I really hope I get to see some growth from them in the coming volumes. #comicsread2018

#LitsyAtoZ @BookishMarginalia ✔️ ‘W‘ title (with the added challenge of the author being female)

The translation seemed off? Or maybe I didn't care for the writing?

What did I eat yesterday? Something less painfully homophobic than this manga. I get that it's supposed to be life as experienced by these characters in the moment but it was hard to read and ultimately I have no interest in continuing the series unfortunately.

Fun read! Love all the discussions of different dishes and meals. I also like all of the thought going into budgeting for food. Really original read. This page shows the recipes to look forward to in volume 2! #manga

Serotonin I love when the recipes are included 👍 7y

Stoop reading. My first ever #manga. I'm excited about the concept, it revolves around the daily life of a gay couple and their daily experiences with food. Discovered this title thanks to @bookriot
