A number one bestseller from the award-winning master of the literary and historical thriller genre: Robert Harris. A gripping, thrilling explosion into Russias mysterious history... When historian Fluke Kelso learns of the existence of a secret notebook belonging to Josef Stalin he is determined to track it down, whatever the consequences. From the violent political intrigue and decadence of modern Moscow he heads north - to the vast forests surrounding the White Sea port of Archangel, and a terrifying encounter with Russia's unburied past.

#bookedintime #worldwarii @Cuilin

Fun fact: My Dad's an ex-history teacher who taught this period, so I asked him for some recommendations for us. There were others he mentioned but he said Robert Harris within a couple of seconds of me asking, so these alternate histories should be good!

Cuilin They look great!! Thanks Jenny. 💕 1y
Ruthiella I‘ve read Fatherland and Enigma and enjoyed them both. 👍 1y

Sounds like it could be quite a politically based book, but intriguing enough to have piqued my interest being about Josef Stalin!
My 12 days of Christmas book advent number 9! 🙂

Mehso-so

A fascinating historical story but too many characters to keep straight in my opinion. Might have been better to not do an audio version of this one because of the complicated narrative.

Pickpick

10/12 📚 Easy read and really absorbing, like all Harris books. Interesting idea, not my favourite ‘alternative‘ history from him. ⭐️ 7/10

From one of the most famous Joe's of the 20th Century (#ShoelessJoe) to another, Joe Stalin. Joseph Stalin is one of the lead characters of the early part of one of my favourite books, Archangel by Robert Harris. Unsurprisingly Uncle Joe doesn't come across too well in this book! I can see it now, Uncle Joe : The Musical. This is where someone tells me it already exists. #MelodiousMusicals

Aleida How old is this? I think Ive read it. (edited) 7y
Andrew65 @Aleida quite old now, it was written in 1998. 7y
CrowCAH You found another Joe; woohoo!!! That would be an interesting musical- Uncle Joe. 7y
Andrew65 @CrowCAH Did change my mind a few times over a few Joes. 7y
