Bravo Jane Healey for telling the story of sassy, enterprising, young immigrant women in the early 1900's. The North end of Boston was a hub of many European immigrants torn between the old country and their pursuit for the American dream. This is the story of four best friends and the foundation, support, and education The Saturday Evening Girls Club provided by prominent Boston women. I think I need to start a SEG club in the heart of America🌻

Such a delightful read 🥰 My only compliant was that I wanted an epilogue telling me what happened to the 4 main characters. Jane Healey has earned her “insta-buy” status with me 💕💕💕

A little Sunday post-chore relaxation 🥰 Still have a few odds and ends to wrap up, but for the next few minutes I‘m going to put my feet up and enjoy “The Saturday Evening Girls Club” by Jane Healey. I‘ll return to reality when my dryer buzzes, until then, ta-ta 👋🏼

This offers a glimpse into the life of women in the early 1900s. Women were expected to work and pass all of their money over to their family until they got married and had a family of their own. The S.E.G was a real club. This book shines a light on 4 women with different religions and backgrounds and what they wanted from life. This story became more poignant because RBG passed while I was reading it. Great book.

An enjoyable read. Wonderful story of four immigrant girls looking to live the American life in 1908 Boston. Two Italian and two Jewish girls, each are looking to escape the traditions of their parents lives and dream of creating lives they want.

If you enjoy historical fiction, this Kindle daily deal is for you. Four immigrant friends in Boston, 2 Jewish, 2 Italian Catholics trying to make their own way in the world as their parents hold fast to old world traditions. I enjoyed this one earlier this year.

3⭐ a light and cozy read. This is the story of 2 Italian and 2 Jewish girls who lived in Boston in 1908. The story tells of these women becoming their own persons, instead of living under the fathers thumb. Nothing deep or philosophical here, just a cute story.

I was thinking maybe this one?

Listened as an audiobook. I enjoyed this light hearted read a nice break from the “heavier” reads. A story of love and friendship between four female childhood friends making their way in turn of the 20th century Boston. A true glimpse into the working lives of first generation Jewish and Italian immigrant children and how they contributed to their neighborhoods. Overall a nice story. 3.5 out of 5 stars.

It was fun to read about Boston while in Boston, but this story did not transport me to 1908 and just felt lacking to me.

Quaint story about 4 best friends in early 1900s Boston who‘ve been part of a girls club since they were 13. Approaching adulthood, they must begin to sort out beaus, jobs, and education amid their parents‘ best but sometimes misguided efforts.

Really enjoyed the friendships of these four #immigrant daughters as they reimagine their lives in the “new American way.”

I don‘t know why but I‘ve always liked this proverb.

The most stressful part of reading too many library books at one time. When a book can‘t be renewed. No! I‘m almost done! I promise to return it soon! I‘m sorry library! I‘m sorry person waiting on your hold! Let me get a move on on this one!

I was flying through The Book Thief and not ready for it to end yet. Started The Saturday Evening Girls Club, about 2 Italian Catholic and 2 Jewish Russian immigrant friends in Boston‘s North End in the early 1900s. Looking forward to the proverbs at the beginning of each chapter.

Absolutely loved this story! Four young immigrant women in North End Boston working through the struggles of building a better future for themselves, while navigating love, religious differences, and traditional feminist roles. Highly recommend!

I really liked this book. It wasn‘t in my usual genres and maybe that‘s why I flew through it. It‘s a great story of friendship, life, love, and heartache...and achieving the American Dream in early 1900s Boston.

This was my book club‘s pick this month and I really enjoyed it. It had a lot in it - history, romance, fierce friendship. This was a really great book about friendship and feminism. I really loved the writing and the characters.

Finished this book last night because I couldn't sleep. It was good. Three and a half to four star read for me. There were things I didn't like about the book, like the ending and some other elements. But in all it was a good book.

I borrowed it through my Kindle Unlimited and it came with the audio version, which I really didn't like. I don't know...the narrator's voice, trying to do the different accents, it just didn't wrong for me.

I'm really enjoying this book, but I am not so sure how I feel about the narrator.
