I‘m going with a classic #iconic figure, Charlotte Bronte. I can‘t imagine growing up in such an isolated place and yet crafting arguably one of the best loved novels ever. This recent biography is on my tbr list - another book I started when it first came out, had to put down, and haven‘t had a chance to pick it up again. I adore the cover! #Movember

I just got a new phone and can't figure out how to take screen shots. 🙄 So this is an audiobook that I own and I LOVED it! I collect all things Bronte and thoroughly enjoyed this book. Normally for my audiobooks I use #libro and #hoopla through my library. I'm a big fan of multitasking and audiobooks are perfect for that! 😁

I 🖤 this book so hard! Never read a biography of any of the Brontes before, and their story is even more enchanting and tragic than I could have imagined. It‘s delightful to know the Bronte sisters often wrote and read their work to each other at home, and heartbreaking that all their lives ended so soon. Claire Harman tells the story of my fave Bronte with such sparkle and poignancy that it reads like a novel. More wonder that it‘s all true.

Loved this book! I had to step away from it times because the emotional pieces of the book and her broken heart made a really sorrowful read, and it was so intense I felt really sucked in. You couldn‘t help but to root for her at times, get angry because of her principals, but also what was so amazing was that she has gotten out on the world and was quite well versed.

“The dining room at the Parsonage had been turned into something like a book factory, as the sisters paced round the table, reading, listening and discussing each other‘s work, and sat bent over their portable desks for hours, writing.” ⬅️This is so much better than my wildest dreams about the Bronte sisters! 💜💜💜

Hartman‘s biography of Charlotte Bronte shows how rebellious Bronte could be - gaining fame from her works, despite (or because of) her somewhat isolated life on an English moor. The more I read about her (and I do need to read this one), the more I like her spirit. She overcame obstacles, wore her heart on her sleeve, and crafted one of the most remarkable stories ever written. #SheWill #NoFemmeber

One of the greatest classic writers, IMO, is Charlotte Bronte. This is a recent biography I picked up...can‘t wait to dive into it. #female #maylovesclassics

I've never been very interested in Charlotte Bronte, but was given this book so I thought I should read it. It was okay, but I'm glad to have finally finished it! You definitely understand why the Bronte sister's books were to gloomy...

As part of my @bookriot Live trip to NYC, I stopped by the Morgan Library to catch the Charlotte Brontë exhibit (after seeing @rincey trip pictures). Really excellent - they have the Branwell portrait of the three sisters on loan from the U.K. ?

Plus bonus Martin Luther exhibit (I think my Lutheran card would have been revoked had I not looked around). ?

Nancy Drew the kitten thinks I should be reading about her namesake rather than about Charlotte Bronte.

I am very much a newbie when it comes to biographies, so I can't say that I know what makes a good one. But this was so compelling and told the story of Charlotte's life in such a detailed, yet well rounded way, that I was hooked from the beginning. What a life she had, what a remarkable woman!

I weep for Charlotte. Harman has given a rounded picture of an extraordinary, intelligent, spirited and flawed woman whose faith sustained her through terrible, endless trials, and who, with her sisters, wrote some of the world's most beloved novels.

Very readable new biography of Charlotte Brontë (and Emily and Anne, too since their lives were all closely intertwined) concentrating on how Charlotte's emotional and intellectual like influenced her writing.

Oh dear. The dangers of letting fragile ladies read novels. 😜
