Liked the book up until the end, 7/10
It feels strange to label this book as historical fiction because it is set in the 1990s, my teenage era. It brought back so many memories of me and my best friend. Best friends are wonderful at loving and fighting and the book shows this nicely. No matter how mad you get at your best friend, you will always be loyal.
@Laughterhp this was my choice for fireworks on cover, but I didn't say anything because it is YA.
I‘m not fluent in German, but this is an antique book about #fireworks that I got to see at the Linda Hall Science Library‘s archives. The coolest thing about the diagram pages is that they fold out, so you can quickly glance at them no matter where you are in the book as you read. #ReadingResolutions @Jess7
I love watching the Macys fireworks on tv and it is on my bucket list to see it in person someday! #fireworks #readingresolutions @Jess7
1. I don‘t have a particular guilty pleasure book or series, & I don‘t know that I feel very guilty about it, but I do enjoy the occasional contemporary YA romance (Stephanie Perkins, Jenn Bennett, Katie Cotugno, Sandhya Menon).
2. Any movie with Julia Stiles. Also, one of my favorite movies is “My Girl.” It makes me open-mouthed ugly-cry but I don‘t care. Ain‘t no shame in my emotional train wreck game.
3. Chocolate croissants

1. 4th pic on device: this teacher meme I relate to so hard. 😹
2. book I read this year I recommend: Fireworks by BOTM judge Katie Cotugno, a soapy YA novel about wannabe popstars in the 90s.
3. weather report: 🌧
4. current read: The Hot One by Carolyn Murnick
5. Labor Day weekend plans: Netflix, lesson plans, maybe some shopping.

It took me a hot (& cold) minute to decide if I'd be able to accept the romance in "Fireworks" but once I was in, I was in. I love Katie Cotugno. Her writing is witty & fresh; it feels modern without relying on language that will instantly date it. Her characters are...tricky. I love that the MC is traditionally pretty & doesn't fall into the "doesn't know her own beauty" trope. & that ending! I won't give any details away, but I'm still pissed.
This one is a good summer read. It was really sweet and I found that I had a lot in common with Dana. She can be stubborn some times and, what she likes to call it, "realistic" (I call it like that too). I always like to read stories like this in summer. Overall, it was good.
"I hate indoor pools," she said..."It's like being inside somebody's mouth."
I can't say that I agree... but this killed me. ???
tfw your book is dedicated to Taylor Hanson. #mmmbop #literaryfiction #seriousreadersonly
So... I've been eyeing this one for a bit. I've seen it so much in my Instagram feed that I decided to give it a try. 👀
Dang you, Costco! #impulsebuy
This book is about two girls who audition to be in a girl group in the 90s. They are best friends but the steep competition threatens their relationship.

So I am half way through this book and officially OBSESSED with it! I never knew how badly I wanted to read a book about a 1997 pop girl group in Orlando. Just reliving my childhood over here with my latest favorite book.
We're so ready for summer vibes! @katiecotugno's new book #Fireworks 💥 is getting us in the summer mood with its fun cover! Besties 👯, 90s girl groups 👩🎤, and romance 😍 --- count us in! What books are on your summer #TBR already?
Set in '97 about girl groups, boy bands, first love, and best friends. I'm honestly a sucker for 90s pop music and always wanted to join a girl group despite my lack of talent so this was a must read. This book makes me want to join a girl group now and fulfill those dreams.
Colorful #endpapers for this YA set in the 1990s music scene.
Mocha cupcake!
