Shark Lady is a biography about a girl named Eugenie Clark. She has loved sharks since she first saw them in an aquarium and has wanted to swim with them and study them. Many people disagreed with Eugenie and thought sharks were scary or ugly. They also thought women should not be scientists. She grows up to prove them wrong and goes on dives and research sharks. This book was written by Jess Keating and illustrated by Marta Álvarez Miguéns.

I like that this touches on how people discouraged her from studying what she wanted to, but she persevered anyway.

This book was great. This is a biography that tells the story of how Eugenie Clark became “the oceans most fearless scientist. It was published in 2017.
Throughout the book, one is shown the many different types of discoveries and experiences that Eugenie had, but some of the main focus is on sharks. I liked that this book can take something that can be scary to people, like the ocean, and show the amazing things about it such as the animals.

During the summer the City teams up with the school district to provide free lunches in the parks every day for kids. They also have a story time with it and each family gets a hard copy of the book!

Today we read Shark Lady about a woman scientist who persisted to prove to others that sharks aren‘t scary and ugly, but are beautiful and wonderful creatures. #Zeek and Charlotte both loved the story and enjoyed their lunch. 💖

My greatest summer fear, sharks! My local indie store had a great shark display and this was an interesting book about Eugenie Clark who studied sharks and dispelled many shark myths.

Home in Louisiana for a visit and my nephews are sleeping over. This is the book my oldest one picked for his bedtime story.

I love when someone can bring a character to life. It‘s even better when they can take a real person and make their story interesting and entertaining for children. In this case Eugenie loved sharks. By studying them, she could show the world that they are not vicious animals, but wildly diverse fish. my favorite thing has to be the timeline at the back of the book. Very well done, and perfect for shark week and shark enthusiastic kids.
