So excited to get your list! I‘ve only read The Husbands and Yellowface. I‘m not familiar with any other book on the list. If they‘re in order of your favorites I‘m going to start at the top. Thanks so much for expanding my world!

@monalyisha You are truly appreciated!!

thegreensofa Lol you are so right! They are in order of my favourites 😆📚👌🏻. You are welcome. And I am loving your list too! 🤩🫶 2w
Lesliereadsalot I‘ve got Remarkably Bright Creatures reserved at the library! Can‘t wait to discuss 🩷 @thegreensofa (edited) 2w

Am I the only one who worries that my piles and boxes of books to be read are not as exciting as all the new books coming out? Will I ever whittle down my TBR or will I always leap for that new book at the library that everyone is raving about?

(This grandfather tree in my local forest is beautiful in the summer - you'll often see people hugging it or singing to it. You can feel the majesty of it when you sit underneath it.)

TheKidUpstairs I can relate! Especially working at a library, I see all the new books coming in and out totally distracts me from my own shelves. 2y
CoffeeNBooks Same, lol! 🙋‍♀️ I keep reminding myself that I have tons of books that need to be read... but then proceed to check out more new books from the library. 🤣 2y

batsy Is it weird to say this tree has so much character? Majestic indeed. 2y
Leftcoastzen Guilty as charged . If I was locked in the house & forced to read I‘m sure I couldn‘t get through them in my lifetime.Love that tree! 2y
Leftcoastzen What kind of tree is it? 2y
Suet624 @Leftcoastzen It's called a wolf tree because it was originally in a field by itself (a lone wolf, I guess?). I believe it's a hemlock but not positive. 2y
Suet624 @TheKidUpstairs Oh boy, working at a library...I can't even imagine the bounty you encounter. :) 2y
Suet624 @CoffeeNBooks Me too! I'm sure the librarian is sick of hearing me talk about it. 2y
Suet624 @MaureenMc 😍 😍 😍 2y
Suet624 @batsy It's not weird at all. It's a beauty and seems to have a certain swagger as you approach it. :) 2y
Suet624 @Leftcoastzen I was sure I'd get through some of my books during COVID and I was so proud of myself for being so prepared with enough books to last years. The darn library figured out a way to provide me with new and interesting books all throughout the pandemic. 2y
squirrelbrain Nope, you‘re definitely not the only one! 🤣 2y
kspenmoll Ha Sue this is so true! I love our library & yet I keep getting books ! I just got a call that the new Kate Atkinson is ready for me to pick up… ii am going to try & read at least 1 book from my massive TBR per month. 2y
Suet624 @squirrelbrain 😍 😍 2y
Suet624 @kspenmoll Good luck with that, Katherine! :) 2y
Ruthiella That‘s why I like to listen to podcasts like Backlisted. They make me excited about older books too!😂 2y
BarbaraBB I recognize that and tend to behave just like you. Yet when I read off my shelves I often remember there was a reason I bought them. They turn out to be at least as good as the newly published books I buy impulsively! 2y
Suet624 @BarbaraBB That's wonderful to hear. I know I purchased them for a reason so they must be good, right? Or halfway decent? :) I'm glad to know that you have wonderful experiences with your TBR. 2y
Lindy 🌳💚 2y
Suet624 @Ruthiella what a great idea. 2y
DivineDiana You are not alone! I want to hug this tree too! Would love to transport to this place. Inspiring. ❤️ 2y

How do you feel about eating/drinking while reading? And if you do, do you do it only with your own books or do you do it with library books as well?

mandarchy I bought a book stand and I am guilty of staining a few library books. I once spilled coffee all over the inside of a library book. I use the library so much that I don't mind replacing copies I damage. I also use two kindles. One has an origami case that works as a book stand that I love, the other leans against a Godzilla piggy bank when my son isn't using it to prop his tablet. I should have more respect for what I partake, but - I can't stop. 3y
melissajayne @mandarchy 😬 I do eat/drink while reading library books and do manage to for the most part not stain them; the odd time it does happen and is usually an accident. Most times I don‘t eat and read and usually depends on what I‘m eating at the time. If I know it will very likely stain the pages, then I don‘t, but it‘s something like pizza and a pop, then most definitely I will. 3y
Twainy Audiobooks, I do everything with them. Kindle, basically waterproof, most food/drink are ok as I have no kids or pets. If I‘m reading a physical book I keep food & drink far far away from them. You monsters! 😆 (IDK where that library book has been so I‘d be using surgical gloves & would never think of putting something in my mouth after touching it lol 🤷🏼‍♀️ little bit of a germaphobe) 😁 3y

Tamra I don‘t typical while reading, don‘t know why, but definitely while watching something. I was just having a snack while watching Of Mice & Men. 😭 3y
melissajayne @Twainy I often take physical books with me to restaurants and coffee shops because I don‘t often read books or listen to audiobooks; mainly listen to podcasts though. 3y
melissajayne @Tamra but why is it so wrong to eat and drink while reading a library book? I‘m usually reading something from the library, not my own shelves, unless it‘s for book club. 3y
Tamra @melissajayne is it? I guess I hadn‘t known that was an unwritten rule. I just don‘t think to eat while reading - usually hands are occupied with the book. I cook with library cookbooks for sure. (edited) 3y
melissajayne @Tamra I didn‘t think it was a rule either but for some reason it is for some people 3y

#Riotgrams #day21 #MagazinesJournalsNewspapers This is Good Reading Magazine, an Australian publication that has book reviews, author interviews and facts & trivia about the publishing world and reading in general. I've had a subscription for a few years now, it's the only magazine devoted solely to reading in Australia. I've had letters published a few times and have found many new authors. Before Litsy, this was my only source of bookish news.

Also received my April Good Reading magazine in the mail today. It's been a very good mail day so far. What's your favourite bookish magazine?

LeahBergen I wish I could get this one here in Canada. It's quite pricey for overseas rates. I subscribe to Bookmarks out of the US. 8y
MrsMalaprop I subscribed to GR for a number of years and think it's a great mag 👍. 8y
LeeRHarry My library doesn't stock this anymore! 😔 8y
Sue I'm going to have to subscribe to this one, I can't find it in a newsagent anywhere. 8y
Michelle_mck I will have to go and see if it's at the library 📚 8y
