4/5 for this one. I enjoyed this book. The relationship between a father and son is so complex. This was an interesting look into one. I have seen the movie also and enjoyed it too.
This was a pleasant quick read, but I must say the movie was much better.
#3books... That were turned into movies (that I enjoyed more than the book (even though the book was still pretty good))
One of the rare instances where i like the movie over the book. Big Fish holds up and the rewatch has me laughing and crying by turns.
Wow, I ordered Big Fish from paperbackswap.com and the sender included 4 extras. There are not enough readathons in the world to get through all of the books I have piled up during this quarantine!
2/5⭐ A fantastic idea buried in sub-par writing. I only recognized the thematic connective tissue because I'd seen the movie.
The stories are mostly bland, told in unconnected vignettes. The book tells Edward's stories through his son's eyes, distancing the reader from how Edward portrays himself.
The book also includes a lot of unnecessary detail that buries the main idea to almost invisibility.
Just watch the movie for this one.

The book wasn‘t bad but this is one case where I feel like the movie was better.
#bookfitnesschallenge my goal is to keep up with one mile a day. This is a busy 4 days, besides work and school, my daughter is 17 today (gulp) and She is performing all weekend in Big Fish for the youth summer program. (Middle girl in white). BUT!!!! I am not feeling overwhelmed, depressed or anxious or exhausted! All wins for about 8 weeks of developing habits!
#nomakeup #nofilter #bookfitnesschallenge @wanderinglynn
During the summer this is pretty standard for the way I look. But I‘ll have to get back into the make up habit when school starts back up. Wouldn‘t want to scare the kids! 😂
1. An astronaut
2. A teacher
3. She‘d probably be pretty disappointed
4. Don‘t get sidetracked by boys

The movie 'Big Fish' is one of my favorites, and I might say that I liked it better than the book. However, I really loved this book and the story Itself is irreplaceable to me, it's just that special.

(Day 17 - #HookedOnAFeeling)
*Of the many movies this song was used in, “Big Fish” was NOT one of them. But I ask you, who doesn‘t think of fishing when you hear the word “hooked?” Well, anyway, I do...which led me to the tagged book by Daniel Wallace. And that‘s how my brain works...😂
Traveling for work this week. I brought this one along to try and squeeze in a little reading.
My two DNF books for 2018. Both from my movie/bookclub.

Next up..... Don't mind a movie cover when it's Tim Burton 😉 #currentlyreading
#31bookpics day 6 (ooops! I‘ll do day 5, big books, tomorrow) #movieadaptation @howjessreads Big Fish is the only instance where I prefer the movie over the book. I feel bad even saying that...
I picked this book up at a thrift shop a couple years ago because I recognized the title. I know there's a movie based on it, but I haven't seen it. I'm actually not sure what this is about at all, but I'm excited to find out! 🤓
1. I always seem to cry at this man's movies! Big Fish, Moulin Rouge, and I'm sure I'm going to bawl during Christopher Robin
2. Yes, apartment has two built into the walls.
3. A beer with dinner and a couple hours of TV or a movie before reading and tea.
4. Not particularly
5. I go through phases of remembering. No recurring dreams, but some recurring elements. I'm fascinated by sleep and dreaming

Wasn‘t the biggest fan of this one, and I got really confused near the end. Overall kept my attention because during certain scenes I had to read sentences over to make sure I was reading them correct cause they were strange. Many allusions to mythology which I enjoyed but overall was not a fan of the plot.
The reason the Egyptians made pyramids, for a legacy after death.
#moviebookclub tomorrow. I bailed on the book. Hope I like the movie better.
#thisremindsmeof @Tiffy_Reads
This is just so-so for me. It's a string of short vignettes about this guy's larger-than-life father. Reading it for #moviebookclub or I might bail. It is a short book though.
When the movie cover is glorious and you don't actually mind! #TBRsomeday
I loved the movie but I loved the book even more! And those first two pages... they are the best first two pages I've ever read.
I really enjoyed this book. It's a bit funny, a bit sad, and wholly entertaining.
Littens, what are your thoughts on Big Fish? I never knew it was a book and ADORE the movie. Normally that means I'll love the book even more and I have a $3 kindle credit... should I get this one?
When your friend is giving away books to a good home 📚📚📚😬🤓

I'm having lunch in the Bass Pro Shop which is less than 5 miles from the Big Fish movie-set town of Spectre, AL (see link above). Loved the book! Loved the movie! #readjanuary #setinmycity @RealLifeReading
#November 27 The #movie was better. #BigFish. I have loved this movie forever. I finally tracked down a copy of the #book and I was so excited to #read it. It was crap. It had none of the #magic or #whimsy of the movie. I was so sad after #reading it. And yes, I'm a day behind in pics. We are all still sick! #AngieBookishNovember #bookchallenge #bookstagram #goodmoviebadbook #EwanMcGregor #magical
Here's my #reccomendsday pick. As you can see I've read it a few times 😉 Just a wonderfully written story full of perseverance, ambition, personality, optimism, strength, intelligence, and imagination.
"Remembering a man's stories makes him immortal, did you know that?"
It'll hit ya in the feels. Every. Time.
"In a moment, everything can change, and in a moment, you can change everything" ???
This is storytelling at its finest! I loved the narrator's voice and how the "stories" are interwoven in so we can learn about his dying father. I loved when you couldn't tell what was real or just another story. Loved, loved this book! Now I need to go see the movie again!

"I think . . . that if a man could be said to be loved by his son, then I think that man could be considered great." For this is the only power I have, to bestow upon my father the mantle of greatness, a thing he sought in the wider world, but one that, in a surprise turn of events, was here at home all along.
This is a great example of a movie that's better than a book! Don't get me wrong, the book was a great read, but the movie has SO much more (helps that it is a Tim burton movie). My favorite movie of all time. #madeintoamovie #somethingforsept #septphotochallenge @RealLifeReading
He believed the stars were wishes, and that one day they would all come true.
A beautiful and magical story that really sticks to you. I loved it. A solid story with beautiful prose. Wonderful exploration of the father/son/hero relationship. "The true measure of a great man is when his son says 'I love you'".
4/5
