Here and Gone
Here and Gone: A Novel | Haylen Beck
61 posts | 46 read | 60 to read
Here and Gone is a gripping, wonderfully tense suspense thriller about a mother's desperate fight to recover her stolen children from corrupt authorities.. It begins with a woman fleeing through Arizona with her kids in tow, trying to escape an abusive marriage. When she's pulled over by an unsettling local sheriff, things soon go awry and she is taken into custody. Only when she gets to the station, her kids are gone. And then the cops start saying they never saw any kids with her, that if they're gone than she must have done something with them... Meanwhile, halfway across the country a man hears the frenzied news reports about the missing kids, which are eerily similar to events in his own past. As the clock ticks down on the search for the lost children, he too is drawn into the desperate fight for their return.

This was just a so-so for me. The premise was interesting - a woman gets pulled over with her kids in the car on a trumped up charge. What happens after to her and her kids is something to unravel. Wasn‘t bad, just wasn‘t my favorite either. But this did get my June #bookspin off the list

I was very satisfied with my first read of June! This book was recommended by my mom so I figured I would give it a shot and I really enjoyed it! I had to keep reading from page one to find out what was going to happen next. I really liked it!

A top-notch thriller that doesn‘t really rely on a mystery to keep you invested...just characters you really care about and ones you really want to see taken down. I highly recommend it. The narrator, Abby Craden, is really good too, especially for voicing more than one POV.

I don‘t remember the last time I was so ANGRY that I wanted to shout and throw a book against the wall. This happened within the first 20 pages. Not because of the book itself but what‘s going on in it. Lord, help me get through this one. Can anyone relate?

Audra kenney is escaping new York with her 2 children when a police car pulls her over in the arizona heat. Arrested and in the cells when she asks after her children the sheriff asks 'what children '. Thus begins this pacey thriller which had me at the edge of my seat throughout the 300 pages that flew by. Sinister villains, disbelieving feds, a media scrum, and odious husband add to the tension. Definitely a page turner.

Wow- What a page turner! I loved the fast-paced action as a mother desperately tries to save her children. This is the first book written by Haylen Beck, pseudonym for Stuart Neville. I‘m looking forward to his next one! #LitsyAtoZ #TheLetterH

Randomly grabbed this at the library and so glad I did. I‘d heard nothing about but judged it by its cover. It is sooo good. Heartbreaking throughout most of the story, but it set a great pace and kept me hooked.

I have a question for anyone who has read this book. “Because you don‘t believe I hurt my children.” This does not make sense to me. Should it say “Because you don‘t believe that I WOULDN‘T hurt my children.” Audra is trying to defend herself. Thoughts?

ErinC I think she knows deep down Mitchell believes her. 7y

4⭐️. This book is absolutely gut wrenching. My fear is that this story is something that‘s really happening today. Missing children is a parents worst nightmare. Audra is a wonderfully realistic character. She is weak & vulnerable & yet very strong in the face of adversity. This is a fast-paced page turner with action, suspense and intrigue. Read more. https://lharvey250.tumblr.com/post/158721921344/here-and-gone-haylen-beck-my-rat...

This is one of those-you are in the action within a few pages type of books. This is such a fast and captivating read, I am surprised it is not on more radars. It is a good, solid thriller that is perfect for a quick Labor Day read. I will say, if pedophiles make you crunch up, stay away as part of this involves "the Dark Web." That stuff really bothers me, but it was still a good read.

RadicalReader @NerdyRev 2019 there‘s supposed to be another novel released by Hayden Beck this novel is already gripping the best part of a mystery thriller cannot wait for more 7y

This one was a difficult one. Difficult to get through because it is my biggest fear (I have to admit I often have nightmares about it) to lose a child to kidnap and abduction and this book has only fed those fears now. From the first page it takes off and doesn‘t stop in a fast-paced thriller. I found myself screaming at the characters and the twists and turns in the story. I just couldn‘t put this one down.

RadicalReader @Zbayardo I understand the feeling completely when it comes to sheer screaming at characters in novels like one does in movies and shows so gratifying yet eager to know what happens next 7y

Here and Gone had me engrossed from the first page. I felt the depth of the children's fear and the mother's desperation. I haven't read anything like this in a long time.
Beck's paragraphs are clean and concise, no added bulk, yet they have the ability to sensitize your rawest emotions. I can't wait to read more from this author!

Finished this book at my 14th hour of #24in48 readathon, and I loved it! It was so intense and I literally couldn't put it down until the very last page! Haylen Beck (pen name of Stuart Neville) has successfully wrote such a gripping story which make readers can't wait to see what happens next, and I honestly think this book will make a great movie. Rating: 5/5 ⭐️

It's not a long book but it was a well written thriller. It kept me on my toes from the very beginning ( so much so that I actually had to read the last chapter before I could finish reading-I'm the worst!). I hoped the story wouldn't be convoluted into something silly and it wasn't. It's about a mother who will doing anything to find her kids. I could see being made into a great movie. 4 stars. Thank you to blogging for books for my free copy!
