The Librarians and the Mother Goose Chase
The Librarians and the Mother Goose Chase | Greg Cox
14 posts | 10 read | 8 to read
For millennia, the Librarians have secretly protected the world by keeping watch over dangerous magical relics. Cataloging and safeguarding everything from Excalibur to Pandora's Box, they stand between humanity and those who would use the relics for evil. Stories can be powerful. In 1719, Elizabeth Goose published a collection of rhyming spells as a children's book, creating a spellbook of terrifying power. The Librarian of that age managed to dispose of all copies of the book except one, which remained in the possession of Elizabeth Goose and her family, temporarily averting any potential disaster. However, strange things are happening, A window washer in San Diego who was blown off his elevated perch by a freak gust of wind, but miraculously survived by landing on a canopy over the building entrance. A woman in rural Pennsylvania who was attacked by mutant rodents without any eyes. And, a college professor in England who somehow found herself trapped inside a prize pumpkin at a local farmer's market. Baird and her team of Librarians suspect that the magic of Mother Goose is again loose in the world, and with Fynn Carson AWOL once again, it is up to Cassandra, Ezekiel, and Stone to track down the missing spellbook before the true power of the rhymes can be unleashed.

This reads like an episode of the show, and I mean that as a compliment. The librarians have to deal with Mother Goose and everybody gets their moment to shine. Lots of fun if you like the show!

UwannaPublishme I love this show and also the movies, but haven‘t seen then in awhile. Time to revisit! 4y
PickwickPlockPlock @UwannaPublishme Actually, I have never seen the movies, only the show. Something to look forward to! 4y
UwannaPublishme The movies are soooo good. Plus a great cast. You must see them. 4y

A quick and totally fun read and a delightful return to the world of the Library! This time Eve and her trusty crew of Librarians must prevent the end of the world (again) by stopping Mother Goose from putting Humpty Dumpty back together. I really enjoyed the nursery rhyme aspect and totally didn‘t see the twist coming! Recommended to fans of both the Librarian movies and the tv show but especially the show!

CrowCAH I ❤️ this show!!! Super sad it‘s not on anymore. 5y
PathfinderNicole @CrowCAH me too! I missed it a lot after reading the novels so my husband and I just started rewatching it 😂 5y

This was more book mail I got yesterday. It was a gift from my Dad. It was the only one of The Librarians novels that I was missing. #thelibrarians #bookmail

Any other Littens at ALA Midwinter? This is my first midwinter and I feel like I'm not doing it right... Currently waiting for my shuttle (wait time: 10 minutes to an hour) and instead of exhibits tonight I'm going to the ALA authors reception. And instead of panels tomorrow I'll be in a booklist judging room all day. Still glad to be back in Seattle!

I love the tv show so much and this book was exactly like it. The Librarians and the Mother Goose Chase was short, funny and joyful. Greg Cox did a great job. I am going to take a look at some of his other books.

Found this book at the Kroger while shopping. LOVE THE LIBRARIANS SHOW!!!

Traci1 I liked that one. There's another in the series, Librarians and the Lost Lamp, that was really good too. 6y
CrowCAH @Traci1 I own the Lost Lamp, but haven‘t gotten around to reading it. 6y

This would have been a great episode. The movies were good except the 2nd one and I love the series. I wish I‘d gotten into this earlier

Baby earlier today. She's sleeping now and I'm about to go to bed as well. Her new anti-seizure meds dosing schedule is every 8 hours. So, I have to get up at 8am for her next dose. I shouldn't be up this late really but I took bath and read for a bit. *sigh* #babiesoflitsy #bathtimereading #ishouldbesleeping
