Granted my last full read was 7 years ago, this is one of my favorite sci-fi middle grade books. Characters have a great dynamic and I like the world.

Meh. A quick read, but it didn‘t really grab me.

Eoin Colfer is the master of young adult science fiction and fantasy. This is one is different from Artemis Fowl but still the plot was amazing and equally engrossing. The characters are loveable. It was short but still left a lot to the imagination. I love it.

This is my grandlizard Cheeto, who is a leopard gecko. She belongs to my oldest kid - they often read together. Cheeto is sort of a mascot for my Little Free Library and sometimes recommends books for my LFL patrons. #funfridayphoto @Liberty

Eh. My younger students will probably like this, but for me it was just too underdeveloped.

While the middle left me seriously considering its merits, the end reminded me of the qualities I enjoyed in it when I first read it as a kid. It does work pretty well as an "in between book:" appropriate (thematically and reading level) for a wider range of young readers yet still feels YA.

I've been making myself wait to read the graphic novel until after I've finished rereading The Supernaturalist. Honestly, nostalgia is great but this book is not. Thoughts to come.

While far from a flawless book, this childhood read has always stuck with me because of its perspective-twisting end. How will the re-read as an adult go?
