so-soCLOVER gave great insight into a specific and delicate situation. The difficulties Clover faces in adjusting to the loss of her father, her new stepmother, the fact that her stepmother is of a totally different race and culture, and the rest of the family getting used to the new wife was excellent. The narrative did wobble into territory beyond the voice of a young child and what she could understand, which ruined some parts for me. Worth a read.

How brilliant is it that they have a book only option? I think bookish items are cute and I do like surprises, but I never know what to do with the tchotchkes.
This is my number one reading companion, Princess Clover. Her likes include Doritos, hunting small animals, and sitting on my books while I'm trying to read them. Dislikes include her brother, Sidney the Peasant, and belts that suspiciously resemble snakes. Also actual snakes.
