This is a modern novel set in modern times, but it has the feel of either an old novel or a modern novel set in old-times. It has an Ira Levin - Kiss before dying vibe to it, which of course, is an old book. Perhaps this is due to it being translated from the original German?
I love the title, but think it is better than the book as a whole.

“The liars among us will know that every lie must contain a certain amount of truth if it‘s to be convincing. A dash of truth is often enough, but it‘s indispensable, like the olive in the martini.”

I didn‘t love this book but it was definitely thrilling and dark. I don‘t usually read mystery/crime books so I think this was my one for the year and I‘ll read another one next year.

Did a buddy read with @Alfoster I liked it, although it left me asking a LOT of questions. I think this will make an interesting discussion for book group this month, and I'll bet mixed like/dislikes. #tink

This was a good thriller even with some unanswered questions! There are more lies than truths...and be prepared to wonder if the protagonist is a hero or villain...or both. Certainly worth the read!😀😀😀

What's the truth? What are the lies?

This book starts off strong, it's fast paced and leaves you flipping pages frantically to find out what happens next. So many questions are raised...If you are looking for a book that ties up all its loose ends this book is not for you. This book will leave you wanting more and knowing you will never receive it, it mirrors its plot in that way and because of that the book is unique and worth the read.

This book is like those roller coasters that shoot you up the track at 60 mph, and I am loving every moment of it.

Finished The Library at Mount Char - SO GOOD! But then realized I have 6 days before OverDrive makes me return this one! I'm seeing mixed reviews about it, but I think the story sounds really interesting. Fingers crossed! 👏🤓

This was like the weird German love child of The Truth about the Harry Quebert Affair and Fates and Furies. It was so twisted and fabulous.

I'm on a book buying ban. It's going really well. I did not buy this on a whim this morning. LIES.

A super quick read that will keep you hooked through the end. The twists were fun, not obvious but also not super surprising. I was hoping for more answers/information on his background.

Dark humor and dry wit are two of my favorite things. Bring it on!

Reading it now. Enjoying it very much. Nice twists and turns.
