The wildly popular novel, Rebecca, was my introduction to Daphne du Maurier long ago, and it was always a favorite. (How could such a tale of "all-consuming jealousy and its murderous consequences" not be?) Only in recent years did I read any of du Maurier's other works. Tatiana de Rosnay beautifully furnishes us with du Maurier's story, which reads like a novel itself. I loved this biography. "And what if life was, ultimately, about pretending?"
