It takes me so long to get through books and I just keep adding more to the stacks.
#BookMail from the lovely @BarbaraBB 💝💝💝Thank you so much for Home Fire, which I‘ve been dying to read and 31 songs sounds soooo fun 😎I ❤️the bookmark ~ it‘s too cute “Book Lovers never go to bed alone” 😂😊😉 You‘ve made my day and reminded me why #LittensAreTheBest 😍😘
Not #bookrelated, but thought I'd ask on here just in case. I have a job interview this Tuesday for a library assistant job, & after receiving feedbacj from a previous one saying that I needed more confidence in myself, I thought I would create a cd to listen to in the car before it.
These are some of the songs I'm considering, but do any of you have recs for other songs to boost my confidence?
Many thanks in advance!
(Writing is) a process something like falling in love. You don‘t necessarily choose the best person, or the wisest, or the most beautiful; there‘s something else going on...I‘m talking about understanding every artistic decision, every impulse, the soul of both the work and its creator. This is me, I wanted to say when I read Tyler‘s rich, sad, lovely novel. “I‘m not a character, I‘m nothing like the author...But even so, this is what I feel like
I love the relationship that anyone has with music ... because there's something in us that is beyond the reach of words, something that eludes and defies our best attempts to spit it out. ... It's the best part of us probably ...
Being classy while reading!
This was fun but a little lacking in content for me. I usually like reading Hornby's thoughts on art and pop culture, but many of these "essays" were far too short to develop the ideas properly. This is a rare case where I actually felt the book should be a good bit longer. Still, it maintains Hornby's trademark tone and did cause me to look up some songs with which I was unfamiliar, so I'd still recommend it if you enjoy essays on pop culture.
I can't remember whether Nick Hornby does the whole #joiningafanclub thing at any point in this book about 31 songs that meant something to him, but you kind of feel he should have. I definitely remember that he chose a Teenage Fanclub song as one of the 31 songs though - think I disagreed with him as to which one (Sparky's Dream or Ain't That Enough, if you're asking) but still. 💙🎶💕🎶💙

I don't have as many #yellowcovers as I expected. And I definitely have no yellow cats, so I don't know what Miss Lucy thinks she's trying to pull. (The book tagged is the one she's sitting on.) #riotgrams #catsoflitsy #petsoflitsy
#hello was my nephew's jam when it came out. It was first song he learned the lyrics to and he would sing along with the cutest facial expressions. He was two and I wonder how he will feel about the song as he grows older. Will it be one that he loved forever or will he eventually wish his old aunt would shut up about his young love of that dated song? Songs have meanings in our lives and I love reading Hornby read about them. #lyricalapril
Hornby expertly captures the brilliant dance between music and listener...and the community of music lovers and the people we try to indoctrinate.
