Well, I did it! I am exhausted and sore but so proud of myself!
Doing something way out of my comfort zone today… my first ever Ragnar Sprint (a 55 mile relay race)!!! Pray for me!
Doing something way out of my comfort zone today… my first ever Ragnar Sprint (a 55 mile relay race)!!! Pray for me!
A year ago I completed my first 5k… I have since completed 22 races and have at least 9 more to do before the end of the year… I never thought I would be a race kind of girl but here I am!
It was one of my health goals to do a couple of 10ks this year and I checked the first one off the list today!! #gettingitdone
I really loved how gritty and grimy this book was. It served some Trainspotting realness which can never be a bad thing.
I found the characters in this book difficult to connect with, and it seemed that the writing style called too much attention to itself and thus obscured the story. I wonder if a more straightforward narrative voice would have let the story stay in the forefront. The sentences were well-crafted; but as a whole, the book didn't draw me in. Great cover, though!

I've been on hiatus from the library while finishing up Mount TBR. But, now I'm back with these goodies. Any suggestions for which to pick up first??
A thousand thanks to @kdwinchester and @TheBookCorgi for my lovely #secretsantagoespostal package! I love discovering new authors, and both of these are new to me! I love the bookmarks and "Reading Women swag" too! I appreciate your thoughtful choices and Dylan's paw print of approval! I look forward to digging into these books! ❤️?? @BookishMarginalia
This book is destined for great things. The writing is great, the characters are well-rounded, and the story keeps you reading page after page. But you know, though I see that this book is well executed, I didn't connect with it on a personal level. It's not the book's fault. 😅 #ItsNotYouItsMe So I def still recommend it; it's just not my thing.
But I adore this design. 😍 The three primary colors are repeated over and over all over the jacket.
This is what one does during a storm (let's be honest, the storm was over about an hour ago, but I'm pretending it's still ☔️ so I can feel "cozy" about my reading.)
Apparently out tomorrow, a tale of love, friendship, and survival set in the red light district of Athens in the 80s. Might have to check this one out…
Loved this dark story of three teens "running" for a red-light district hotel in 1980's Athens. They soon take some turns that have them in deeper trouble than they're really prepared for. Unique! Original! Full review this week on http://www.novelvisits.com.
Thanks to Simon & Schuster for the ARC. The book was excellent, but so dark for my tastes. Many unlikeable (or at least hard to like) people, doing things I couldn't imagine and for reasons that were often not entirely made clear. All things I don't like. That said, I would recommend the novel. The writing is evocative and the characters and settings were crystal clear in my mind.
Book mail = best mail. ❤️
"The city was like a beacon. And it drew us from wherever we'd been left. For me, the outskirts of a smoke jumped's base in a cold mountain town, for Jasper and Milo the London suburbs and rain-soaked council housing of Manchester. We were looking for nothing and had found it in Athens: Demeter's lips white as stone, Apollo's yellow mantle sun washed, sanded, wind blown to granite..."
