Here‘s a link to a great critique of Molière and his (at the time) scandalous play “Tartuffe”. Centuries ago the famous Molière pushed the French leaders of society and Church with satire much like Shakespeare did in England. Great quote #famousquotes

“The book creates a cinematic view of the war through the eyes of a child. Reading this novel is tantamount to watching a film, providing us not only with a portrait of the family, but also a view of the war we may not have considered before. All this makes for a fabulous and memorable read.”

“When I am dead, bury me In my beloved Ukraine…
…Oh bury me, then rise ye up
And break your heavy chains
And water with the tyrants' blood The freedom you have gained.
And in the great new family,
The family of the free,
With softly spoken, kindly word Remember also me.“

Am Reading - resting at chapter 48, after waiting so long for book 9 I want to pace myself. I‘m enjoying the stories (because in her books there‘s always more than one) the family life and politics at Fraser‘s Ridge is never boring. Loss and happiness, win and lose, so good to have them together.

zguta Finished Part 3 and looking forward to two more parts….then drought lander again - book 10? 3y

The character's view unfolded like a Hitchcock movie, leading the reader down a path, only to have the rug pulled out from under your feet. Don't read this story in the dark, you might get creeped out and jump at every small sound in your house. I did have an inkling about who the killer was, but never sure until the end, which turned out to be a shock and surprise for me.
This is a great first novel and I hope Finn will have many more to come.

Chapter 14
“The sky was swept clean with brooms.
The sky was yelled clean by boys occupying at least eight of those brooms at once.
And what with changing their cries of fear to cries of delight, the boys almost forgot to look back or listen for Pipkin, similarity sailed off among island clouds.”

It‘s hard for any Christian or Jew that believes in God to understand how anyone could fall for DSA, Communism, Marxism mantras ….this book tries to explain the communist mindset, and how it‘s possible that they condone so much violence in the name of ‘peace‘. So far an interesting, yet horrific read. It‘s always good to be curious but warn your college kids about this troubling mind-sink. There are better ways to be bigger than oneself. #reading

"Merfolk" is an action-packed adventure. Dr. Marty Murdock is on a quest to prove that merfolk exists. Seamlessly woven into the story is a great learning experience, as information about early man, marine biotechnology, deep-sea and cave diving detailing the experience, fill the story with realism and vivid details. And yes, you will be scared, because these creatures are not what you'd expect. I highly recommend this book by Bates.

Starting this audiobook today, very hopeful so far...if it‘s anything like ‘The Missing Ones‘ it‘s going to be an exciting story.

zguta Suspenseful story —but sometimes I want to yell at Lottie “stop being an idiot” she keeps running forward chasing shadows.... she should sit & think things through but then of course she wouldn‘t be Lottie. 5 stars 👍🏼 4y

Beginning a new story via Audible - I enjoyed this author‘s character Amos Decker so starting a different series with the main character a Veteran... sounds like a promising series. 😊

zguta Puller is a great character, perfectly disciplined, emotionally an introvert, and like many good guys, takes the blame for every little thing that goes wrong. He has big shoulders, the perfect American hero. His sharp mind picks up clues and puts the pieces together, while in a small town investigating multi murders. The side kick, the local heroine cop, works well with Puller to find the real crime. 4y

An orphan's emotional adventure. I listened to the story on audiobook and was pulled into a world true to the characters' voices by the narrator's voice of interpretation. Excellent fiction, based on painful realities in our American history. I highly recommend reading or listening to this story. Your heart will be pulled in many directions right until the end.

“Frozen, with no sense of time, I waited on my back, scared to death with my eyes squeezed shut. I stopped thinking except for the thought of my blood rushing through my veins. I was alive. Then I reflected on the innocent blood of all those who had already been killed. I considered whether it was our turn to die this time, then decided it was not.” Page185

The protagonist, Lottie, pushes everything to the max- her work- personal life- and even her health when it comes to doing her job. This storyline is fresh with believable characters who step off the page with heart wrenching truths, and real life drama. The crimes are as different as the detective and will keep you guessing and glued to the next page. Definitely worth your reading time.

A sweeping story that speaks head-on about our society's deepest troubles: spousal abuse and child mental abuse. We follow the character as she grows up under severe strain. Like many of Hanna's stories, this novel is about the deep bonds between a mother and daughter, and the extent a person's love can be pushed and tested. Emotional character portrayals, majestic scenery descriptions, and threads of lives that intertwine with each other.

A French story about two sisters on different paths... they struggle like any other dysfunctional family but remain faithful to each other in their way. This novel is two adventures, both treacherous and painful, as each sister live through the second great war in their unique situation. Hanna has breathed life into the story, they came alive, with details that make the reader or listener feel present in the horror of war. Excellent novel.
