My latest read in my effort to be an effective ally. Every book makes me increasingly angry. Not least if all at myself for not knowing more already. #timetoopenmyeyes #readingtolearn #blmreadinglist

Little Women is my favorite childhood book and I‘m generally loathe to read any kind of spin off works. But this one has had good buzz and it seemed fun and light - perfect for this busy time of year.
The first of three books about the pack horse libraries I‘ve somehow lined up to read within two months. Julia Whelan is reading the audiobook and I‘m loving her reading and Moyes‘ characters.
I really didn‘t like the last book I read by this author but this one‘s gotten such great buzz that I picked it up when I found it available at the library. It‘s infinitely better than that other book but I‘m not loving it. Too many things just don‘t work for me. Still I wouldn‘t give it just a so-so rating - there‘s plenty here I do like, including having a main character who‘s on the spectrum.
If you want to learn more about what it‘s really like to be a family farmer these days, you need to read this book. And you you don‘t think you particularly want to learn about family farms, I urge you to reconsider. I have lived my whole life in Nebraska; 2/3 of this state is farming/ranching. I had NO idea what all a farmer needs to know these days to stay afloat. Weather, science, and politics all have an impact. The history is fascinating.
My god, is this book filled with wonderful, thoughtful advice that is just so beautifully written! Strayed is able to connect on a personal level with every letter writer to her Dear Sugar column. My mother wouldn‘t like the language or Strayed‘s tendency to use the f word when talking about sex - it‘s not a book you can put in just anyone‘s hands. But I would def recommend it!
Truth be told, I finished this book several days ago and I‘m still not sure how I feel about it. I raced through it, at first because I was loving the story and curious to see how these children would survive their horrible circumstances, if they would survive. Then it got creepy and uncomfortable and I almost had to give up on it. Id recommend it, but only for those who can overlook some things that made this Mom squeamish.
Guys, I‘ve been reading so much that I have hardly been able to keep up with reviews for my blog. So much nonfiction the last few weeks. Hoping to finish this one in the next couple of day. Now I‘m going to have to find the Dear Sugar podcast.
Absolutely loving the audiobook version of this one! #audiobook #historicalfiction #nyc
I‘m already reading two books but decided I needed to check this out tonight. My eyes are always bigger than may “stomach” when it comes to books!
I‘ve been listening to this one for 5 hours and I‘m not even 25% done. And you have to pay such careful attitude can‘t speed it up or do much of anything while I listen. It‘s definitely an interesting listen!
Holy crap did this one take a twisty turn! Not my usual read but I am racing through it.
Kaling is never not funny so I wasn‘t surprised to have enjoyed this book. It‘s a bit uneven, as are most collections, but when it is good it is poignant, honest, and very, very funny.
There‘s a lot of religion going on in this one, which I hadn‘t expected. But if a belief in the calling of a higher being and in prayer is what it took to convince Cathy Parker that she could get an artificial football field installed in one of the most remote places in this country, then hallelujah! What an enormous undertaking!
Oh, Marie Kondo, you are full of good advice but this is just crazy talk. Why would I put my clean dishes out where bugs could walk on them and dirt will blow onto them?!
Filling in while I‘m waiting for my next library hold to come in. #audiobooks #library
I am genuinely sad to be finished with this book. I‘m a huge fan of the Obamas so I was happy to “get to know” them better, to learn about their backgrounds, how they met, how they survived politics. Loved getting the inside stories. She reads the book with warmth and emotion. I feel like we are friends now. Highly recommend this book!
When you forgot your Nook downstairs and you want to read for a few minutes before you go to sleep, you hit up the library. Because, God forbid you crawl back out of bed and get a book off the bookshelf! #librarybook #ebook #mystery
I am loving listening to this one what with the Irish accent! #audiobook #dublinmurdersquad #ireland
Started listening to this one on the way home from work. I have no idea what it‘s about; just saw it on a bunch of “best of 2018” lists. That‘s good enough for me to give it a go.
Oh my lord, is the audiobook version of this book good! Oh, and hello, Litsy, long time no see!
Guys, if you haven‘t read Schaffert before, now‘s the chance to pick up his most recent book. I‘m excited to hear he‘s taking a sabbatical from his teaching career - fingers crossed it means the book he‘s been working on will get out out into the world. #localauthor #Omaha
Racing to finish this one before it gets pulled by the library tomorrow. Wonder if I can sneak listen to it when I go back from lunch?
So my son and I are chitchatting and he mentions he‘s downloaded 100 books off Project Gutenberg. He‘s always been a reader but, still, that impressed me. And then he tells me that he‘s just finished this book. Be still my Mama heart! #parentinggoals
Guys, if you ever get a chance to see David Grann speak, do it! He is entertaining and passionate about his stories. I even forgot to take any pics!
This one made this white girl pretty uncomfortable- which is a good thing. Plus so many essays I could really connect with. #nonfiction #essays #audiobook
FINALLY have my hands on this one. I‘m so excited and can‘t wait to finish the book I‘m listening to so I can start it. #nonfiction #audiobook
100 pages in and enjoying this fiction account of the life of the Vanderbilts. #historicalfiction

Based on a true story about a strong woman AND football - just my kind of book! #Riotgrams #currentread
Got to hear Ron Chernow speak last night about this book, as well as Grant. He is a wonderful speaker and actually rapped the lyrics to “Alexander Hamilton” from “Hamilton!” Sadly, my friend wouldn‘t let me sneak any pics!

Had no idea what this was about when I downloaded it. You‘d think I might have guessed it‘d be dystopian, given the author. Interesting idea; not sure how I feel about it, though.
1. Fall, although I really prefer autumn
2. Tailgating foods, pumpkin breads and pumpkin spice dip

So glad I finally got my library card again. Listened to 95% of this and then my loan expired and there are holes on the audio so I couldn‘t re-up it. No problem, just going to check out the ebook to finish it up. Love the options! #library #probablygoingtobuythisoneanyway

Makes me think of a female version of Cold Mountain, what with the long journey home to a beloved from the war without permission. #audiobook #civilwar
