"Think of your workspace as an altar to your muse. It should be inviting and stimulating."

If you‘re looking for a story that‘s both spooky and sweet this Halloween season, this is the book for you. Blue is a ghost. He‘s also in love with his best friend Hamal. But Hamal‘s ability to see ghosts has put them both in danger, and it‘s up to Blue to protect him. This lovely book is going down with Anya‘s Ghost and Friends with Boys as a new favorite ghost story for teens and young adults.
This little book is a must-have resource for bakers and cooks of all skill levels. It includes conversion charts, common substitutions, and even a guide on how to adjust your recipes depending on your altitude--something I would have never even considered before reading this book. Reed also includes a section on traditional recipes, accompanied by dozens of variations for when you‘re ready to move beyond the basics.
A collection that doesn't hesitate to rip open old wounds in order to properly heal them. Ward's poetry is raw and reflective, but she has little patience for wallowing in the past. Instead, she urges us to be better than we have been, pushing us forward with the gentle reminder that "this will give you poetry."
Speaking of employee perks, maybe I should start sharing my staff picks?
In a family where girls are trained to be witches and boys are trained to be shapeshifters, Aster struggles to find his place, eventually defying his family to develop his skills as a witch. This is a classic story of self discovery and of learning to love who you are, and is a delightful addition to the domestic fantasy genre.
I learned recently that I can order ICC books through Ingram and take advantage of that sweet sweet employee discount.
I...may have indulged a bit, and I definitely wasn't expecting all my orders to arrive on the same day 😅
"When we say that 'the world has ended,' remember--it is usually a lie. The planet is just fine."

"English, strictly speaking, is not my first language by the way. I haven't yet discovered what my first language is so for the time being I use English words in order to say things. I expect I will always have to do it that way; regrettably I don't think my first language can be written down at all. I'm not sure it can be made external you see. I think it has to stay where it is; simmering in the elastic gloom betwixt my flickering organs."
I don't know what's up with all these literary oatmeal stouts, but I'm here for it 🍻

I oops'd while taking the photo but it came out looking kinda cool so I'm going with it.
loving how these will look together on my poetry shelf ❤
I absolutely loved this book. I love the way the perspectives converge as everything falls into place, and the slow, surging momentum that carried it forward. This book has been on my radar for a while, and I regret not reading it sooner!
I'm off to reserve book 2 at the library, and spend the rest of my life crying over Syen/Baster/Innon.

Are my shelves queer enough yet?
Nope. Not by a long shot.
"The right cover is like a beautiful coat, elegant and warm, wrapping my words as they travel through the world, on their way to keep an appointment with my readers. The wrong cover is cumbersome, suffocating. Or it is like a too-tight sweater: inadequate."
I can't capture all of it in the photo, but my series of lovely ladies has a new home over the new bookshelves!
