The details are deliciously confusing. The cops don‘t believe her- should we!? Despite some plot holes in this psychological thriller, you will be like a hound- hot on the trail of truth!

The author relates to struggles many women experience in this memoire. Occasionally beautiful/spiritual-drips white privilege. Her solutions to life‘s problems are running away to the ocean to watch sunsets, stay at a fancy hotel, do yoga class whenever. Be free of relational obligations whenever your emotions blow left or right. Also she takes no responsibility for choices that profoundly alter the course of her life. It‘s a giant blame game.

An easy to read heartbreaker of a romance grounded in the ethical and emotional considerations of assisted suicide. The book is the most difficult easy read. You grow to love the eccentricity of it‘s characters, and are left with much more to contemplate. However the plot was predictable, and parts of the story were long and drawn out. The multi lens perspectives did not add to the story either, they simply retold subtext we already knew. 3 ⭐️

Read this when you need a cup of comfort. A sweet memoire about the incredible bonds of friendship and coming of age. It will remind you of the layers of your own human soul‘s onion- that tender shallot you were long before. The characters were real, honest and interesting. It touches on challenging aspects of life and shed great light and wisdom. It was a bit predictable but that, in itself, kind of added to the enjoyment of this comfort read.

The most hopeful and positive person you will ever meet is a woman named Katherine who suffered a massive brain stem stroke and was left profoundly physically disabled. She teaches us that in the process of being broken we can become more whole than ever we thought possible before. The Wolfs show readers how God‘s bigger than life plans for us can shine brighter in the darkness.

Why do we laugh? Neuroscientist Scott Weems will tell you in this informative book describing the neuroscience behind laughter. His theories are insightful (despite being a bit stereotyped) and peppered with humour! However, I have to agree with him when he indulges in some self depreciating humour quoting Avner Ziv, “It is more enjoyable to read a humorous book than to read one explaining humor.”

This is a bright and evocative story of immigrant's post colonial experiences in the UK as they try to carve out an identity in a suspicious and scrutinizing world. It‘s cocky. It‘s also quite funny in places. It has edge and heart. You will not sit and binge read it, because it‘s prose is beautiful... but too heavy for long sessions. But you will be back, because you will want to see the world through that lens again and again.

Fall in love with quirky Eleanor, a woman with no comprehension of social pleasantries as a result of her traumatic youth. A woman who is a warrior in her own right, an over comer, who perseveres despite her isolated life plagued with ongoing abuse from her mother. This book will make you LAUGH out loud (she‘s hilarious) and CRY out loud, and OH you will miss her when it‘s over.

If God is real, why does he permit suffering? I want to embrace him but I can‘t. There‘s too many unanswered questions. Why do terrible people get away with awful stuff and good people die early from cancer?! If this is you, you need to read this book which Miles explains brilliantly exactly why God is not punishing people unjustly and does not permit suffering. Total game changer.
