Kcallihan Claire, this book sounds so interesting! I‘ve never heard of these books before but the way that you introduced them made me much more inclined to want to learn more. I also enjoyed that you included potential lesson plan ideas such as the American Revolution. If we could get our students interested in these books I believe it would not only help their literacy skills but also their history skills immensely! 6y

The Very Busy Spider sounds a lot like me!! I like to spin my web and sleep! I found this lift-the-flap edition of the story which is great for young kids who are learning how to read! This would also be great for a PR so students can each play the part of the spider and other characters to read back and forth! Written by the renowned author Eric Carle, this book is fun for all ages! #LAE3414sp19

Look no further for a story that is rich in culture and in art! Anansi the Spider is an African TL that is retold and illustrated by Caldecott honor winning author Gerald McDermott. This inspiring HF novel written by NYT Bestselling author, Sharon M. Draper is great for classroom use! To be exact, the story is set in Bumblebee, North Carolina during the 1930s. The theme of this book may be dark for some ages, but the issues covered are very important. Using this book to use along with writing activities is a great idea! Caldecott Honor author Steve Jenkins gives a colorful and hands on guide to how big-and small-these creatures actually are! “Actual Size” is a perfect RA for children of all ages. When I first read this book I wanted to put my hands all over the pages to see how I compared to these animals! It would even be a great NF tool to use as a research guide for older students!
