I love that the Ransome Swallows & Amazons books are on Hoopla, I love that my library caved & joined Hoopla, it's awesome. This old-school children-roughing-for-the-heck-of-it British holiday stuff is what my brain needs right now.
That said. You guys. These kids are making my anxiety spike every other chapter. 😰

Listening to this on Scribd audio b/c i'm too impatient for the e-library hold to come in - listening in 10-15 minute fits, and loving the (kind of difficult) west-African-accented narration, and it's **GOOD**
I'm only 20% through. 🤯

Maybe cliche? but I finished this series about a group of 4 young track team members by Jason Reynolds this year, and it was so well worth it. I needed to hear those different voices in YA as someone who loves lots of classic YA literature (but it's nearly all about English/white kids).

OK I didn't think this would be as interesting as it is, from some mixed reviews I read - it's very sparse of dialogue but it's working. Fable-like. I'm only 28% finished but this is encouraging.

I'm reading 2 delightful short books at the moment and it's nice. It's really nice, and restful.
(Also reading a Shakespeare history play and mideast spy history and fanfiction, because i cannot help myself. But having short sweet books is a wonderful break in all this.)
