Like many dystopia novels it had warnings and shows extremes. This one seems all the more relevant with the current events and happenings in the world. It left me unsatisfied and a bit disappointed.

Love this one. Usually I suffer through the second book in a trilogy as it is basically a set up for the third' s climax, but this one didn't do that to me!

So this one I really liked the premise and the world was interesting, but I don't think things were fully fleshed out. I have too many questions still. I did want to see what happens in hopes of getting answers, but alas...

A fantastic series setup. Fairy tale retellings are so fun and this one is excellent...especially as the first in a trilogy.

Loved this one! So many subtle and overt mythology nods. So many great quotes and concepts too. Made me rather thoughtful.
I can see where some might not like it, but I thought it was great. I'll have to pick up Anansi Boys down the line. And I'm really lookling forward to the show!

I think this story is a good reminder of a lot of sayings, but two really come to mind...
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." -Edmund Burke
?
"We believe in ordinary acts of bravery, in the courage that drives one person to stand up for another.” -Veronica Roth

I was so excited for this one when I saw the blurb. Then I read it and it was awesome! With #folklore and #fairytale elements along with fun shades of the Labyrinth.

This was an interesting reminder on a bully that I grew up with. Read this one as part of a book to movie book club with some friends.

A sequel that didn't feel like one or have that second book slump of setting up everything for the third book finale!

Love me some space opera a la Firefly or Treasure Planet. This does leave some interesting questions that I'd like answered/explored.

Gotta admit that this was mostly a cover but since its so BAMF. But I was still pleasantly surprised with the blending of myth and folklore telling in this one.

Loved it! I'm very much looking forward to the next one. It fulfilled my desire for similar books to the Night Circus that I've been seeking.

This was fun and I get all the hype, but it was really super appealing to me. The history and Scotland ate cool, but I'm not in a rush to pick up the next one yet.

Usually I love fairy tale retelling, but I don't think I was I the right mood/mindset for this one.

Linear Books like these must be read at night so the magic of the story can happen and your mind can run wild. 8y
bookzofkelz @Linear True. But I also find that sometimes I'm in a better mood or frame of mind for some books than others. 8y

Some reading and judgemental cuddles on my birthday. This could be due to not enough scritches for #kittycalliope or because I haven't read the series since the summer Deathly Hallows came out. #currentlyreading

Small book haul from the other day. I've been branching in to more #nonfiction then ever lately.
