I love this sentiment. Manners have very little meaning when they are treated as rite, there must be purpose behind them.

Tuesday night activity- cocktail and Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk
It is always important to read opinions that differ from yours so I will finish this book. But the inherent dislike and distrust of attorneys and the belief that the Supreme Court is the root of all our criminal justice issues not systemic racism or inadequate mental health treatment is incredibly frustrating. Otherwise a completely adequate digest of popular American crime.
Finished last night and could not sleep. I am not sure I have ever been more disturbed by an ending. Excellent thriller.
Sherlock Holmes stories and bourbon & ginger for a chill night. #booksandbooze
Happy Valentine's Day! Wine and a copy of the new Julie James (thanks to my hero Ali)! #booksandbooze
My idea of Valentine's plans- picked up three and only one was one I had already read. #booklife
Being early to trivia means getting to spend some quality time with The Code Book and a glass of Harpoon. Getting back into #booksandbooze
Really happy with my first delivery from Once Upon a Time Book Club
Sometimes when you have a lot of extra romance novels and a little extra Christmas spirit, you make a tree #literarychristmas
Traveling and visiting new bookstores- this one is Bookman & Bookwoman in Nashville
My mother's great brainstorm while redoing my apartment- turning my DVD shelf into a dedicated romance bookshelf.
Curling up with a little bit of spiritualism history and gin #booksandbooze
My favorite part of vacation is finding new bookstores. This one is Sherman's in Portland, Maine.
Walked in to look and walked out with a stack. Story of my life in bookstores.
My top shelf holds my all time favorites and here is a portion of it. #augustofpages #bookphotochallenge
The finished book pile from my realizing weekend at the lake. I am also halfway through The Singles Game.
I thoroughly enjoyed this weird and wonderful book. I particularly appreciated the way the story unfolds in interviews.
I am a huge baseball fan and a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. This is one of my favorite baseball books from my younger days- I love reading about the dark side of sports #augustofpages #bookphotchallenge
Here are my accessible pink and green books #augustofbooks and #bookphotochallenge
Day Two of #augustofpages which is romance. I am a huge romance reader. This is a small sampling that have not made the shelves yet. I also read the majority of my romance in the digital format. #bookphotchallenge
It is very difficult to retell a Jane Austen story well in the written form and Emma is particularly difficult because she is a difficult character to like. Cher from Clueless works but this Emma did not have any redeeming character traits and the romance was not developed at all.
Stack of books I picked up at Barnes and Noble when I only went in for Emma. The romance shelves were very well placed for impulse purchases. Well played, well played.
Solid police thriller- I enjoyed the shifting points of views but particularly connected with the main detective. Perfect lake read.
Maybe it is just that it was based too much on Manson but removed a lot of the complexities of the story or I just wasn't in the mood but I was not captivated by the book.
My Fun Friday Photo is a childhood favorite. I loved Matilda by Roald Dahl. It was the perfect book for a young bookworm.
When your apartment is too hot you head to your neighborhood wine bar for a Gruner and Victorian true crime, The Wicked Boy by Kate Summerscale #booksandbooze
This book was recommended to me by a few people and I should have listened to them much sooner than I did. It is a delightful mash up of Gaiman and Le Carre with a touch of something delightfully its own.
For fun Friday photo my favorite bookmarks are mostly free ones@from bookshops plus a Ms. Marvel one given to me by a friend
An excellent biography of a fascinating author- strangely one of the most surprising facts I learned is Nick Harkaway is his son.
For my Fun Friday Photo the book I always return to for comfort is The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie R. King and all of the Mary Russell series. Bonus background of the original stories which are also comfortable reads.
Binging on KJ Charles this week- started with Think of England and ran through the Magpie Lord series
Fun Friday Photo- Now and always my favorite Canadian author- L.M. Montgomery. Although I just realized I have no idea where the first two books are.
Starting my book club book a bit late this month since I have club on Saturday. Gin and soda will ease the way.
Excellent continuation of the Temeraire series this time set in Australia. I read most of the book traditionally but enjoyed a portion of it in audio. It pairs well with Dragon's Milk Bourbon Barrel Stout.
A quotation that does not lose its power for the current political climate even when you realize it is from John Le Carre's shit of a father.
Fun Friday Photo- I read everything romance, mystery, fantasy, nonfiction, and basically everything else I can get my hands on but I am always up for a spy novel particularly John Le Carre. @Liberty
Sold as a spy novel but that is just a very small part of a larger story which deals with the idea of finding your place in the world and the compromises that you sometimes have to make.
Very well done thriller about the causes of a small plane crash. Excellent build up as more and more information is revealed.
Favorite stop on the way to Boston and Fenway Park- Traveler Restaurant where you can get excellent food and walk out with three free books.
Devoured this book in two hours and felt that she was placing my own thoughts and feelings on the page. Honest, sharp and hilarious- everyone should read this book.
Continuing the series- this book was focused on the battlefield. This is still a fascinating alternative history of the Napoleonic Wars
The story definitely picks up in this book and the story ranges from England to Africa and back. It deals with the issue of the slave trade serving as a good reminder that the Napoleonic War is not the only important issue in this time people even when you add dragons.
After finishing a delightful fantasy series, I decided to tackle one of my unfinished series. The third book features the travels of the captain and his dragon from China to home. Solid story but at times it felt like it was treading narrative water. Not my favorite in the series.
For my Fun Friday Photo: My favorite book, my favorite ending- "I am half agony, half hope"
