My pick for best book of 2017. This collection of short stories is just sublime.

After a few months, I've finally finished Either/Or. What an interesting novel. I love the exploration of ethics and aesthetics, and to do it in a novel meant that Kierkegaard was able to explore all his ideas without settling on one choice. #translatedfiction #philosophy
Sex, religion and politics, what more can you ask for in a book?
I'm still trying to put my thoughts together on this one. This would be a very difficult book to write. It's centred around a standup comedian who has a break down on stage. Humour is so subjective and to focus an entire work on stage would have been difficult. I think this would make a great stage production
This stunning book got me to think about refugees in a whole different way. I like that Hamid challenged stereotypes from start to finish. Stereotypes of Refugees, Muslims, religion, gender and sexuality. I will be picking up his other books very soon.
Library haul. I think I'll read A Horse Walks into a Bar first
This stunning masterpiece will stay with me forever. I love the way Duras plays with multiple narrative devices to explore her salacious love affair with a Chinese man.
Simply stunning. The book truely captivated me. Love, tragedy, war and art, Hertmans has really written an astonishing read.
This book is so amazing. Nothing beats a good book about book collecting. This covers a personal account of building a personal library and a history of libraries
Susan Sontag is a good writer but this book wasn't interesting enough to satisfy me
I love books about books, so let's see how I feel about a book about a library
I need more books like this. This reminds me of the books about the literary scene in New York; except in Russian and about Russian literature. Can you get anymore prefect than that?
A terrifying yet fascinating insight into life in the Gulag under Stalin. But I find myself needing to know more, so will have to pick up the seven volume collection of The Gulag Archipelago
Book 1 of 2017: The Invention of Morel by Adolfo Bioy Casares and translated by Ruth L.C. Simms. This stunning Argentinian novella offers a mystery, some suspense and a touch of the bizarre. What a joy to read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #translatedfiction
Patrick Modiano continues to impress me. He knows how to capture loneliness and write about memories
I will need to learn Russian

Sartre is the kind of writer that makes me feel dumb. He is very intelligent and Nausea is a very polished novel. I know I will have to return to this in the future.
"Half the world is redoing its kitchens, the other half is starving."
This will make my commute more interesting
So much talk about existentialism happening around me, so I'm reading the father on this school of thought
I just can't do this; it's too much like American propaganda
Reading this in India was perfect. I didn't know what to expect here - I had a fair idea but I got so much more. What stuck out with me was the personal struggle reflected in this one.
I reread this book because I love Anne Fadiman's writing style. I love the way she writes about books and it inspires me to write in a similar way. This will be by inspiration and my text book for awhile
This is a post-modern beat novel (with dashes of Hunter S Thompson) set in post Soviet Ukrainian. Well worth checking out.
If you want to know more about Gorbachev's Perestroika, Yeltsin's attempt to try and restore Russia or Putin's new Soviet regime then this book is for you. So much to learn.
Currently reading this Ukrainian novel. Newsweek calls it "Trainspotting set against a grim post-Soviet backdrop."
This story behind Doctor Zhivago is just as interesting as the novel itself. Perfect companion piece
While I have some problems with this novel, I can't stop thinking about it. This will be a book that will take a life time to read
On this day in 1958, the first English translation was publishers #currentlyreading
This is just a three thousand page buddy read with some fellow booktubers
I'm finally getting a chance to read this, been wanting to pick it up for so long
This book is weird and wonderful. A tongue-in-cheek look at erotica with plenty of references to the classics in the genre
Not gonna lie, this sounds so weird and awesome. I can't wait to read this
I've been looking forward to this novel for awhile #currentlyreading
Charles Bukowski calls John Fante his God. #currentlyreading
This novel blow me away. I don't think I've every read about the Great Leap Forward before and now I need to know more. So many layers to be found in this wonderfully complex book.
Took me awhile but was so worth it. Don Quixote is laugh out loud funny and never boring. So much to unpack from this book
Creepy and thrilling. While it's easy to compare it to You by Caroline Kapnes, I think the main character reminds me more of Nick Corey from Pop. 1280 by Jim Thompson
This novel was nice but I think I did it a disservice by seeing the movie first. The movie was sweet and adorable, and far more detailed than the book, wish lacked a little.
Art, relationships and sex. This book is masterfully written and my first ever Michael Cunningham read. Loved every emotion I was taken through, can't wait to read more book from this author.
Loving this book at the moment, want to do nothing but read it
