Fantastic story of a girl who sees the number of days people have left to live when she touches them! I loved Casey‘s pragmatic yet humorous voice, and relished the push and pull between her and persistent PJ as he slowly coaxes her out of her protective shell. And then the twist when Casey finally touches him! Highly recommended for fans of contemporary YA with a quirky or paranormal slant.
pickThis was a well crafted story pitched perfectly at a middle high school level, with honest, flawed characters and a female MC with hard choices to make. Although most teens are unlikely to experience the pressures that come with elite sport, Harper's story is relatable in the ways she relates to her parents, friends and her love interest. We need more books in which active teens can see themselves reflected, and Taryn Bashford delivers.

This is one of my favorite quotes from THE THIRD KISS. It‘s actually the SECOND kiss in the book, one that Cora, the female MC, instigated. And I‘m told it‘s just as good as the FIRST kiss in the novel, which won the Romance Writers of Australia First Kiss Competition. Read any books with memorable kisses in them? Tell me which ones?

Have started reading this quirky somewhat macabre #YAlit romance (yes, you read those descriptors right 😉) about Esther, whose whole family is cursed, and Jonah, Esther‘s first Crush, as they tackle their greatest fears one strange phobia at a time. It‘s also written in 3rd person, which is a bonus right now because the novel I‘m currently writing is 3rd person, and if it were 1st person I‘d end up getting all muddled in my writing 😏
