So incredibly excited to be reading this! 🤩🤩🤩

#vitanostra is probably my most anticipated book of the year! ❤️

*Major thanks to the folks at Harper Voyager and Edelweiss for the DRC!*

Holy cow, does this book have me all over the place with the feels!!

Definitely a unique and interesting look at flipping gender norms, while also being a brilliantly written piece of speculative fiction in its own right.

The Power is so well done, in fact, that you can almost feel that little tingle along your own collar bone; as if you actually were reading a historical account of events truly come to pass. Incredible! ❤️

I've wanted to read this book since I first saw it on Goodreads a while back but it wasn't yet available in the US. I was recently approved for the DRC from Edelweiss (yay!) and I'm really enjoying it so far. It's a little strange and not exactly what I expected but the writing is superb. I'm currently 32% in and I've highlighted more so far than in any other book I've ever read. So many great quotes! 💖

I finally finished #ChildrenofBloodandBone and...WOW! Tomi Adeyemi has written something that goes beyond the realm of descriptives like great, awesome, or amazing and soars into the realm of magnificent, iconic, badass, and meaningful; resonating long after the final page. ❤️

Wow! Sylvain Neuvel has done it again! I absolutely LOVE this series and Only Human is just as magnificent as the first two. Once I started I couldn't put it down and read it thru in one day! I'll post a longer review closer to the release date, I need a minute to process all my thoughts on this one. Just know that it is an incredible end to an amazing trilogy! ❤️

*Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC!! All opinions are my own.*

This is one of those times when I wish Litsy gave us more options for ratings. For me, it falls between 'pick' and 'so-so.' I'm still trying to organize my thoughts for a real review, which is odd in itself because I usually have a pretty solid handle on what I like and don't like about any particular story, but this one is a bit tricky for some reason. Curious as to others reactions to this one. 😕

*I was so excited to read this! I love these characters and their world so much! It's as good as Harry Potter in my opinion, in some ways even better.💜
*The character development is solid as they deal with mundane real world issues as well as those of the magical variety.💚
*I love the mix of modern times with Nigerian traditions and mythology, and the complex magic system is one of the best and most interesting I've ever read.💙

One of the most beautifully written books I've ever read! I loved the opposites attract type romance and Poet is one of my favorite characters ever. I've just recently discovered Natalia Jaster as an author but she is definitely one I'll be watching! Truly a great addition to the fairytale genre! 💜💜💜

Requested this from netgalley this morning and got the approval email this afternoon. I'm around 70 pages in and enjoying it so far. It's a bit different in format than most novels but it works for the story. Oh, and did I mention the snarky spell book? Cause there's a snarky spell book and I love it! 😃😃😃

💜💙 The storytelling here is, once again, excellent! The characters are well developed (I adore Fain!) and the plot provides much appreciated context for the Black Witch while also being good enough to stand on it‘s own. With Laurie Forest‘s amazing writing talent it‘s only gonna get better from here and I am so excited to see where this series goes! Two super enthusiastic thumbs up!! 💙💜

Literally can't put into words how excited I am for this!! 😄😁 Black Witch is absolutely one of the best books I have ever read so I have been dying for Wandfasted! Not sure how I'll make it til book two is available lol. 💖💖💖

398.2 I just added The Black Witch to my stack because of your review. Sounds good. 😀 7y
Joelene Awesome! 😁 It's a very controversial book apparently. Don't let the Goodreads rating sway u, it's a result of one blogger's review and ppl who follow her rated the book based on her opinion without even reading it 7y
Joelene It's had an overwhelmingly positive response from the majority of those who have actually read it. It tackles some pretty difficult issues and there were parts that were hard for me to read (seriously, ALL the feels!) 7y
See All 6 Comments
Joelene But it has a very clear message that's both timely and relevant to our society today. The blogger in question missed that part entirely, in her apparent rush to be offended by anything and everything, in order to prove her "morality" to the world via social media. And her minions apparently felt the need to validate their own morality by rating a book they didn't read in an attempt to force a boycott of sorts. 7y
Joelene Lol as u can tell the whole situation irks me to no end (and I've accidentally hit the send button too early a few times lol). The hypocrisy of it all is so ironic, u will see how when u read it. Ok I'm off my soap box now lol I hope u enjoy it as much as I did! 😊😊😊 7y
Joelene Side note: Wandfasted is actually a full length prequel and only $2.99! How great is that?! 7y

I think this qualifies as an exception to the 'don't judge a book by its cover' rule, don't you? How could it possibly be anything less than wonderful with a cover like that? 😁

Toward a Secret Sky | Heather MacLean
Mehso-so

Not awful but not great either. The plot lacked originality (angels/demons), some characters fell a little flat, could have used more world building, and I thought the way the angels/demons identify one another (seeing each other's breath, really?!) was a tad ridiculous. I think there was potential here for a good story but as is it was disappointing.
