Guys!!! I'm almost in tears!! ALICE placed THIRD in her category in the Readers Favorite International Book Awards!! SO EXCITING!
Overall, I liked the book. It was a quick read that didn't ever feel like the pacing dragged, which I appreciated. There were a few continuity issues that I struggled to follow, but I think most of that can be attributed to Pen's spotty memory from her use of Fix. This coupled with a few plot devices that I wasn't crazy about detracted from the overall rating from me, but I wouldn't say its bad, just not my cup of tea.
I love this book so much. I honestly can't say enough good about it, but then my review would basically become a novel in itself so let me suffice it to say this.
*The plot is excellent
*The characters come alive on the page
*The formatting is fresh and engaging and unlike anything I've ever seen
*The action/adventure/plot twists are ON POINT.
*Ive never been so sad when a book ended before.
If you haven't read these, what are you waiting for?

THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!
Amazing. This book just crashed into the ranks of one of my favorite books of all time. Such an amazing concept with absolutely flawless execution. My mind is still reeling and I am absolutely certain I will be having a SERIOUS book hangover from this beauty! Well done, Mr. Reintgen. Nyxia is an absolute masterpiece. 😍😍😍
I enjoyed this book. I like the idea & the setting is right up my alley. It ends with a great set up for the next book, but that was also my problem with this story. It seemed like just one big set up for the next book. While there were other, smaller events through the story, there didn't seem to be one main event. It was written well enough for me to appreciate on it's own, but I was letdown on the last page thinking there was going to be more.
I don't have enough space to gush about this nearly as much as I want, so you can find my full review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2023330916?book_show_action=false&from_rev...
But really guys. This story had everything. Cute romance, witty banter, cheesy jokes, &of course a hint of the feels. This story was practically perfect in every way and I will definitely be interested in more from this author. Well done!
4.5/5 stars
My June TBR list. Gotta step up my game if I'm gonna keep this BookTube channel interesting😉 (Come visit me at Author Confession!)
While this book was very well written, I think the style was just not for me. I went into it anticipating an exciting & chilling tale, and I feel like the way the book was woven, the pacing came across more like a fictionalized documentary. Personally, Im not a fan of documentaries (they don't hold my interest), which explains my lack of exuberance for the story. It's clear the author put in a great deal of work in but this one just wasn't for me.
I really enjoyed this book. I've been in a string of books that start slow before picking up. I liked that this took me into the action quicker. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters, and while sometimes Tilla wasn't my favorite I appreciated her. My 2 fav were Jax & Lyriana. I won't go into more but WHY SHVARTS? Why did you rip out my heart??! Ok, thats enough. This was a fun read. I'd recommend it to someone looking for a fantasy escape.
Back to work! Consulting my research before busting Through the Broken Glass (working title). I'll be honest, I'm a little nervous about this installment Carroll's Looking Glass is a lot more fantastical than Wonderland was. LOTS to keep up with! #AlwaysProtectYourQueen ❤️ #WelcomeToWanderland
Look at this BEAUTIFUL book layout @abelleinabookshop made for ALICE! This is one of my favorite things about #bookstagram and now MY book is being used! 😱😭❤️😍

I almost didn't finish this book. The beginning was hard to invest in. I didn't connect with the main character. He was clearly broken and had a lot of self-value issues, and that's not really something I do well with(stuff like that makes me sad & I don't like being sad), but I stuck it out. And OMG. After I made it through the fight between my personality & the MCs, THIS BOOK. Antiartists is the perfect anti-perfect story. And it is beautiful.
LOOK WHAT CAME IN THE MAIL TODAY! The very FIRST print edition of my book Alice:The Wanderland Chronicles!! Isn't it beautiful?!? 😍😍😍
About to start this beauty! Super excited to have received an ARC 😍😍😍
Wow the last half of this book completely sold me. There were a couple parts that lagged but holy ending! Action, horror, intrigue, deception, ALL THEE THINGS. I'll definitely be reading the sequel!

One of the first dark retellings I ever read and I absolutely hooked me! I love the twist Pearce out on Red Riding Hood and how she weaves the same story threads through her series even though all books can easily stand alone. Such a great series!! ❤️
Any guesses what my next project is a retelling of? 😉
Started this beauty today! Pretty good so far! Has anyone else read it?! What are your thoughts??
Is it really any surprise that I love Alice retellings?? Which one is YOUR favorite spin on the classic?
I was given this book as an arc to review and I just have to say, WOW. Not only is the cover beautiful, but the book is just wonderful. I was completely drawn into the love story of Declan & Cordelia. Though it may not be 'traditional,' it has to be one of the most powerful loves I've ever read about. The writing is beautiful, lending a seamless view into the story being told. A fantastic debut for an extremely talented writer. Well done!
Heads will roll... The Wanderland Chronicles
Hi all! I'm the author of Alice: The Wanderland Chronicles and I am SO excited to share my book with you! It's a YA Dark Fantasy retelling of Alice in Wonderland with an undead spin! I hope you check it out! Happy Reading!! ❤️
Though not a book I'd normally pick up, I enjoyed Eight Days. It had an interesting concept that made for a good plot. Through the book I found myself considering the important things in my own life, so it definitely had powerful elements to it. At some points, the pacing was a little slow, but this could be bc it isn't a genre I normally read. If you like adult contemp. fiction or stories about self-discovery & growth it is worth checking out. :)
I picked this book up trying to find a couple of good scifi books to my reading list. The cover grabbed me and I remember thinking the concept sounded interesting. I've had a few books to read on my list so its taken me a bit to get to it and now I'm kicking myself that I didn't read it sooner. Simply put: I LOVE THIS BOOK. I love the formatting, the writing style, the characters, the plot, everything. It is amazing.
This definitely wasn't my favorite book. It had potential, but there are a lot of errors and word choice issues that made it hard for me to get into the world being built and stay there. I will say that I liked the PREMISE of the book and that made me keep reading because I wanted it to get better. I really, really did. It just didn't happen. I think that if the book was put out in another edition with some revisions it could be a lot better.
Though I am not usually a contemporary reader, I loved this book. It had me enthralled the whole time. Dupre does such a good job with her characters that I literally envisioned running one of them over with a rusty lawn mower (I won't say who *spoilers*). Although, Scout is far from perfect. There were a few times I imagined smacking some sense into her as well! But that's how good the story was. I couldn't help but keep reading to the end.
This was one my favorite books growing up and it still is today. It is a Cinderella retelling, but Carson Levine made it so much her own that I didn't realize until she ended up 'acquiring' her two (horrid!) stepsisters. From there, it only got better. I love Ella and her fiery spirit and the romance between her and Char is one of my all-time favorites. I recommend this for all readers who love a good fairytale because that is what they will get
I really enjoyed Ready Player One. Cline did a great job with his world-building and I absolutely ADORED all the 80s pop-culture references at the heart of the book. Cline's storytelling is solid as well, and I liked following Wade as he worked to beat the ultimate game. If you are an 80s fan, a gamer, or just looking for a fun and exciting read, give it a go!
Henry‘s storytelling is excellent & it was easy to get lost in the world that she created. But I wasn‘t crazy about how heavily the story was filled w/undertones of rape. As I was reading, I could see how it played into the plot line so was necessary, but it was a little much for my taste. Violence aside, I really did enjoy the story‘s concept and Henry‘s writing is very good, so as long as you aren't a sensitive reader, I'd say pick.
Roux did a nice job tying in SANCTUM to its predecessor, but to be honest I had a harder time finishing this book than I did ASYLUM. I felt the beginning of the story was not as fast paced, so it took me a bit more time to get into. Once I reached about the 25% mark, however, things started to pick up & I was hooked again. The end of the story also had some really great twists I didn‘t see coming, which is always a plus. Overall, I'd say pick.
I really enjoyed Asylum. If you are looking for a spooky read, I would definitely recommend it. Roux‘s thrilling story will you keep you turning the pages to find out what will happen to Daniel (I mean, Dan – or do I?) next. For quality writing and intriguing plot, I make it a pick! 😊
Paper Wishes is one of the cleanest self-pub books I‘ve picked up, and aside from a few word choice tics I caught it was really well written. On top of that, the story itself is really cute. Filled with relatable characters and a fun writing style, it is a book I really enjoyed. If you're looking for a fun, upbeat read, I definitely recommend you give it a shot.
I enjoyed the storyline, and I appreciated Father O'Ryan's character. Although, sometimes I wish I was more 'in' the story than listening to O'Ryan dictate it to me. That being said, the plot was strong enough to keep me hooked. Overall, I liked it.
