Parts per Million launches today! Author Julia Stoops began writing it after 9/11--seventeen years ago! It was a finalist for the PEN/Bellwether for Socially Engaged Fiction. I published the paperback and ebook; Blackstone Audio releases the audiobook today. Julia and I made a @Powells pilgrimage today to celebrate!
My writer friend Matthew gave me his book the other night. Gorgeous cover, captivating story.
Today's travel buddy is riveting. @Tin_House #thelisteners #getindie
Couldn't help thinking about this family favorite when my kiddo drew her way along the beach. #oregoncoast
I've been a fan of Miranda Beverly-Whittemore's since her first novel, The Effects of Light. Her fourth, June, is now out in paperback.
My kid was bullied in early elementary school; now her advice to other kids is in a resources guide in Sticks and Stones, a middle grade chapter book now out. Thanks to author Nicole C. Kear for providing such an empowering experience.
Our nineteenth century fabulist novel won a gold medal in the 2017 PubWest Design Awards!
Yesterday my family took a road trip to Olympia, Washington, and visited the farmers market portrayed in Nikki McClure's gorgeous book. Then we came home and read it.
It's National Doughnut Day! (I'd say Donut but want to match the book...)
Authors Robin Cody and Brian Friesen took the mic at Broadway Books last night to celebrate the life and work of Oregon author Brian Doyle. We laughed a lot and grieved together for the loss of this brilliant and beloved member of our community.
This finely-tuned debut novel--now out from @Tin_House --is smart and fun and quirky and gorgeously heart-wrenching. Thrilled to se it's getting so much attention.
Eeee! Cannot wait to read this novel. Especially after meeting Hannah last night; we're with gracious poet and novelist Kate Gray, my author (Carry the Sky) and a good friend of Hannah's, at @Powells last night.
My new favorite kids' picture book takes on the subject of bullying without ever using that word. It's so beautiful it makes me cry. Out 3/21 from Ripple Grove Press, an independent children's book publisher in Portland, Oregon.
Editor Manjula Martin and contributor Cari Luna at @Powells last night for the final stop on the Scratch book tour. Standing room only! #getindie #transparency
This morning I've been sharing some poems by Kim Stafford, son of the great William Stafford. If you want to share here's the credit line: Reprinted with permission of the author from The Flavor of Unity: Post-Election Poems by Kim Stafford (Portland, Oregon: Little Infinities, 2017). The collection isn't on Litsy because it's not for sale, so I'm linking to another one of his titles.
Fun New Year's Eve reading! #getindie (Broadway Books)
A quick and entertaining cross-cultural love story from a new small press out of Ann Arbor.

Brian Doyle's latest, out from Red Hen, with a delicious Brian-like inscription. (And he liked the wine I brought!)
I'm bringing a bottle of Lange wine to Brian Doyle tonight; this book about the Lange winery was the first title of his I read.
I'm really late to the Ransom Riggs party but am glad I finally made it here...
