So Litsy got the cover wrong for this book, so I figure I‘d just take a picture off the PC instead 😁 When I found My 15 year old daughter reading a books called ‘D-Day‘ I become suspicious, but she loves this book and read parts to me to ‘better understand her.‘ It is actually a fun read and the illustrations are creatively playful. A great book for a teen girl trying to find (or perhaps forget) love. I ❤️it

What an interesting book for 75th anniversary of D-Day!!!

You develop your plan for invasion
You sent your spies to capture intelligence on me
You armed dark forces to raise up against me
You spread propaganda and lies about me
You developed sophisticated weapons

Against you, I never stood a chance, so I fully surrendered

Demi Bom‘s book King of Pawns kept me so enthralled during my Balkan mountain hike, that I found any excuse to stop and read a few more pages. I probably spent more time reading and thinking about the plot than focusing on the mountain scenery. I enjoyed it so much, I read it 2x on the trip and started imagining the hikers around me were characters from the book. Going somewhere alone, bring this book along and you won‘t feel lonely!

KatieMiller So much better than “A gentleman in Moscow” 6y

This book kept my kids warm in the mountains today! Thanks Tsvetana Bombeva! If you are an environmentalist, this is a great book for your family. Best part is I t‘s currently free to download on the Kindle!

I can‘t believe this book only gets 60% as a pick! I am not a professional literary critic but like judging wine, I know what I like and I certainly like this book! Maybe it‘s the Count of Monte Cristo feel of this book, but it is certainly my favorite John Grisham book!

RadicalReader Looking forward to checking out this book for myself. Hope you have a wonderful time here on Litsy and make many bookwork buddies 6y

Ups and Downs: A Wild Book of Animal Adventures | Samuel Bruser, Tsvetana Bombeva

A great addition to my kid‘s Kindle library, this book is FREE right now on Amazon! My 5 year old loves the colorful pictures with a diverse set of animal characters...We like that there is a lesson behind each story. It‘s simple enough for early readers to work through and short enough for us to recall and narrate from behind the driving wheel. There are 5 stories but My favorite is the Kangaroo that drinks soda and leaps from the sugar rush!

Slavena Ivanova was on the run.

She would have been dead by now if she was not properly trained by the Central Intelligence Agency and if she didn‘t break every rule in the book.

Great book! I need another like it! East Europe, an operative alone and unafraid, surrounded by adversaries. Suggestions?

booklahoma You might try the Night Soldiers series by Alan Furst. I prefer the classic Ambler, Le Carre, and Graham Greene espionage novels but most of them don't quite fit criteria you mentioned. Two excellent works about solo agents in Europe (but not Eastern Europe) are Eye Of The Needle (Follett) and Day Of The Jackal (Forsyth). And Demi Bom's new book (tagged) is set primarily in Bulgaria. (edited) 6y
DylanT Thanks. I will check these out! I just bought King of Pawns and Night Soldiers. Will let you know how it goes. Great recommendations. 6y

I loved this book as a kid and am looking for another of the same genre (East Europe, dangerous circumstances and a protagonist that I can believe in). Any suggestions?
