Listened to an audio book version of this read by a Dubliner. Very authentic experience.
I liked these small pieces of everyday life in the life of the fictional characters. It was alright, but not great.

1984 | George Orwell

Listening to this right now. 10 chapters in... It's scary how accurate this book is, when I think of the world we live in today. Favorite part or quote from this masterpiece?

SW-T “Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.” 6y
Alexander_Meng @SW-T yes, I "liked" that too. Like might not be the word ? 6y
TrishB All of it! Orwell was a genius with this book. Still so relevant. 6y
Alexander_Meng @TrishB absolutely! 😯 6y

I read this at 13 and was both fascinated and confused. It was a lot. Think you could call it information-overload. I then read it again three years later and this time, I enjoyed it even more.
This is the father of world-building showing how it is done (that even before the fantasy-genre was defined). It's epic and, at times, the world-building seems to overshadow the characters, but then we have complex characters and politics.
I loved it!

It's heavy! Love it, find it a bit boring, then Moore is blowing my mind. One moment it's dull, next moment the best book ever 😂

Alexander_Meng @erzascarletbookgasm haven't read any of them, though I loved the Stardust movie and Neverwhere is actually on my bookshelf. I will have to read the three, and the Norse mythology 6y
