This took me 3 years to read! Not sure why. The stories are delightful.

Books based around the WWII era is my usual genre so I had no idea Danielle Steel ventured into this area. This was an enjoyable book that was easy to read but also made me emotional at times. This book was a pleasant surprise and I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes books based in the WWII era especially involving the French Resistance.

From the short story The Reunion - “For an entire year Virginia Collier had avoided this trip.”

One of the best books about the Holocaust that I have ever read. (And I‘ve read many!)

TheBookHippie I agree. 2y

I've been almost completely MIA for weeks, but can now announce the results of a year's worth of work. I was on the Reading List committee, an ALA award to celebrate the best in genre fiction. I'm tremendously proud of the work we did: hundreds of books read and hours of discussion. You can also see the shortlists here: https://rusaupdate.org/2022/01/readers-advisory-announce-2022-reading-list-years...

BookNAround Very cool. That‘s a lot of work for sure. I‘m just starting up the WNBA Great Group Reads list reading period again and we only get 250 or so books to consider. I imagine you had exponentially more. 3y
Nessavamusic Very cool, some great books there! 3y
sprainedbrain So cool!! 3y
Librarybelle Yay!!! I was so excited to see the list! 3y

Eva is a hero all in her own right.
Both books (this and Eva's Story) work together perfectly and both as touching as each other.
There are similarities between Eva and Anne Frank but both both are amazing

GingerAntics Oh wow, she‘s Anne Frank‘s stepsister. I absolutely need to read this now. 3y

I‘m not usually a fan of short stories, but this collection was an exception. All the stories take place around September 1945 and feature reunions at Grand Central Station in New York. Some happy, some sad, some dreaded… sometimes you catch a glimpse of a character from a previous story. The home front during WWII is very interesting to me and I would like to read more stories of how people adjusted after the reunions. 3/5 🇺🇸s
