I pulled out a Fall food magazine to look for some seasonal veggie recipes, and I found this photo from 2016. My daughter, then 9, and I attended her school's family movie night, where they were showing Coco. My son, then 7, refused to go with us because he hates sad movies. I should have heeded his warning. I'm still crying. 😭 😉

AnnCrystal 🆒🤩💝...love Coco. (edited) 5d

I got lucky today! Brand new for $7.

In true ATK and Milk Street fashion, this isn‘t a compendium of boring basic bland veggie recipes, rather they embrace flavorful global flavors.👌🏾 Seasonal example is Mashed Butternut Squash with Cumin & Chili. Ohhhh, I just flipped to Habanero-Onion Soup with Lime. 😋

My daughter will not give her seal of approval on this book. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Leniverse That sounds great 😋 (But my children wouldn't approve either 😂) 2mo

Pickpick

I like the Hairy Bikers: their recipes work, there's little by way of weird ingredients, and they really know how to double down on flavour. For such "meaty" chaps their veggie food is ?. Approx a third of these recipes are strictly vegan and a good few more are easily adaptable. I've bookmarked a whole list's worth to try!
There's chapters on brunch, salads, soups, light dishes, easy meals, weekend specials, puddings & bakes, and sides & basics.

Not a recipe from the tagged book, but I went to the farmers market today, and it‘s supposed to get cold again this week, so I made soup. Now I don‘t have to think about dinner.

Lcsmcat @Booksblanketsandahotbeverage Soup is the only reason to be happy that it‘s getting cold again. 😂 7mo
Lcsmcat @Susanita @dabbe Thanks! Except for the white beans it‘s all from our local farmers market (last year‘s tomatoes from the freezer, everything else fresh.) 7mo
Leftcoastzen Looks like great soup! 7mo
tpixie Lovely! Is these a recipe? Or did you just work magic? 7mo
Lcsmcat @tpixie It‘s a bit of both. I looked at a couple of”beans and greens” soup recipes and then modified it to use what I had on hand that needed to be used up. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 7mo
tpixie @Lcsmcat a real chef! 7mo
Lcsmcat @tpixie I lay no claim to that! But shopping the way I do , mostly at farmers markets, has forced me to be a more creative cook, because I start with the ingredients and go from there. 7mo
tpixie @Lcsmcat ok! Creative cook! 🧡🧡🧡 Making life healthy and fun! (edited) 7mo

#25Alive!

Soup is warmth, soup is comfort, soup is love… It‘s not just my #FaveWinterFood (joining the #soupbrigade here) it‘s a favorite food always.

I post about this book a lot, it‘s my favorite soup cookbook & a just favorite cookbook in general. Pictured are the Cauliflower Bisque with Buttered Breadcrumbs & the Pickle Soup. 🥣💙🍲

The photo doesn't do the stew justice, but it was SO GOOD. I couldn't find fresh habañeros*, so I used a jalapeño and a few dashes of habañero hot sauce. Caribbean-Style Swiss Chard and Butternut Squash Stew from the tagged.

*About 20 years ago, I had a habañero plant in a container on the balcony of our apartment in North Carolina. It grew to about three feet tall and produced at least a hundred habañeros. And now I can't find one pepper. *sigh*
