Leftcoastzen @LeahBergen well , it was published in 1988. The 80s had a certain horror look. It was funny , I worked in a bookstore in that era that liked to shelve as many as possible , like 90% face out. This family used to come down from the mountains & shop the store about quarterly. They complained we didn‘t have a horror section, blended w/ fiction. They wailed , how can we find them! I said , Maybe the covers hold a clue! 10mo

The Life And Times Of The Thunderbolt Kid: Travels Through my Childhood | Bill Bryson

Had this on my shelf for a long time. Picked it up to read because of the #ToyCover prompt. It's such a hoot! Such fun reminders of growing up in the1950s as he did: No novocaine dentist, Sky King on Saturday TV, Chuckles candy (always gave my mom the black one), Fels-Naptha soap (which I still use on poison ivy), Jello "salads", "circular-spoke stitching" Maidenform bra ads, and a hilarious story about bleaching Lincoln Logs.

This #ToyCover book is old (published in 1900) but new to me. I found it while searching for a cover with toys on it.
