Singout The Salvadoran theme was also very powerful: a woman who has been taken away by ICE and whose seven-year-old daughter is initially taken in by the main character, who reluctantly turns her in to a government institution that sent her with her mother back to Mexico, ignoring the fact that they are actually Salvadorans. The same narrative of desperately trying to escape to the new United States, that I‘ve been reading in other books ensues. (edited) 1y
