The Thin Man | Dashiell Hammett
post image

#threelistthursday #tlt

A whopping 14/100! 🤣 Some of those posters were 😱!
Faves:
THE THIN MAN: [Nora Charles]: “Waiter, will you serve the nuts? I mean, will you serve the guests the nuts?“
DARK VICTORY: “Nothing can hurt us now. What we have can't be destroyed. That's our victory - our victory over the dark. It is a victory because we're not afraid.“
WUTHERING HEIGHTS: “I am Heathcliff!“ (I laugh at this one now).

Mollyanna I need to watch Dark Victory it‘s been on my to watch list for a long time. 2h

Thank you @dabbe for creating this fun play-card 🎬😉💝.

26/100 · 26%
I'm sure I've watched more...yet it's been years and I'm not 100 percent certain.

-Love Affair (1939)
Love Cary Grant, yet this is my favorite version of this movie. Especially that last scene, I believe Charles Boyer captured the intensity of the moment incredibly more than Grant did (sorry Carry 😘 Grant).

-The Wizard of Oz (1939).

-Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939).

dabbe Fabulous score and choices! Most of us scored between 1-15! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚🩶🩶 7h

You've read this far? You're TAGGED! 🤩

TheBookgeekFrau Omg - I only saw 3! 😂🤣 The Wizard of Oz, Les Miserables, and Tale of Two Cities 21h
dabbe @TheBookgeekFrau I only got 14! I have hardly seen anything from the 1920s-1930s! 🤣 Thanks for playing and sharing. 🩶💚🩶 (edited) 21h
TheBookgeekFrau @dabbe Way better than me! 💚💚 21h

Kitta Only 2! 😂 The Wizard of Oz and Cleopatra. 20h
thebacklistbook Wizard of Oz was my only one I've seen. If I got modern versions it would be higher, since it's award winners I took the list at face value. 18h
Mollyanna I‘ve seen 9, mainly from the later section of the list. Love The Thin Man, Fred/Ginger movies and The Philadelphia Story. 14h
ImperfectCJ I've seen 6 of these. It's an interesting reminder of how many movies that are lauded (or at least nominated) in their time fall into obscurity. 11h
dabbe @Kitta 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💚🩶 7h
dabbe @thebacklistbook I would have counted if I'd seen other versions of the same story--like A STAR IS BORN. 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💚🩶 7h
dabbe @Mollyanna I adore THE THIN MAN; Powell and Loy were beyond adorable together! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💚🩶 7h
dabbe @ImperfectCJ Agree 💯! And there were definitely slim pickings in the 1920s-30s! 🤩 Thanks for playing and sharing. 💚💚🩶 7h

I got so excited reading everyone else's posts that I forgot to post mine! I chose my three favorites. In fact, they're in my top 10 of all time!
In no particular order:
1. CASABLANCA: “Louis, this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.“
2. GONE WITH THE WIND: “After all, tomorrow is another day.“
3. REBECCA: “Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again.“

Thanks to all who played! 🍿❣️📽️

AnnCrystal 👏🏼🥳🎬💝💝💝. 6d
shortsarahrose I got to see Gone with the Wind at a historic theater just like it would‘ve been seen originally and it was one of the coolest experiences. 5d

#TLT #ThreeListThursday on Friday! Thanks for the tag @dabbe
So many great ones .
All about Eve , Casablanca, American in Paris , Amadeus , Terms of Endearment are favorites.
Crash winning over Brokeback Mountain is ridiculous in my humble opinion.

dabbe Wowza, what a score! 🙌🏻 Totally agree with your choices and re: CRASH. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 6d

It‘s been a hot minute since I‘ve joined in #ThreeListThursday #TLT but since I loves me some movies, I had to join in. Thanks to my Dad, I did well with 88/96!

My top 3 from this list:

1️⃣ The Greatest Show On Earth: great memories watching this with my dad SO MANY TIMES! 🎪

2️⃣ The Silence of the Lambs: just rewatched it a month or so ago. Still just as 😱

3️⃣ The Sound of Music: a favorite of my mom, how can you not sing along?🎶

⬇️

DebinHawaii … And I had to pick a 4th favorite. CODA I first watched it a couple years ago & LOVED it. I 😭In a good way! 7d
dabbe Holy guacamole, Batman! You da winner! 🤩 Love your choices, and what a wonderful thing for you and your father to share. Thanks for playing and sharing. 🍿❣️📽️ 6d

I got 1 ⭐️. Most of the films I saw when I was younger. I don't watch a whole lot of TV or Movies.

Pre-kids, my spouse and I set about watching as many of the Best Picture winners as we could find in the local video store. We made a decent dent in the list before we got bogged down and video stores closed.

Some of my faves, only one of which is from that "trying to watch them all" period:
-All About Eve
-Terms of Endearment (which I liked better than the book)
-The Silence of the Lambs

Thanks for the tag, @dabbe !

51!!! I surprised myself. I‘m not usually a rewatcher of movies but these I‘ve seen multiple times as they‘re so good. I recently rewatched Casablanca, just for the “La Marseillaise” scene 🎬
