When a friend buys you four books that are all spot on with your preferences…..I feel so SEEN!

Which one should I start with?!?!

#ThisIsLove #BooksAreMyLoveLanguage

LiteraryinPA Little Fires Everywhere was really well done, I thought! Enjoy them all! 1y
LunaAubry @LiteraryinLawrence I‘d never heard of it before my friend gave it to me so that‘s good to know! Thank you! 1y

My friends are amazing.💜🖤 I have treatments that last hours. Most of my friends live far & can't come sit with me. So when asked what they could do, I asked for books. A gift card to HPB funded my book haul last weekend. These books arrived over the week. I'm excited for the Vampire diaries. Gris Grimly is a fav illustrator of mine. Coralie was always a fav and it was lost with my collection. The Black Beauty is for the Tweedle. #ThisIsLove 💜

CocoReads Great friends! Nice collection. 6y
SmartSassery @CocoReads I very lucky. 🍀 💚 I miss them so much. 6y

Atlas Shrugged | Ayn Rand
post image

After a somewhat intense (and extremely hilarious) argument over the fact that I never read any books my husband suggests, I've somehow committed to reading Atlas Shrugged once I'm finished with Infinite Jest. 🤦🏼‍♀️ #thisislove

PS. I'm also supposed to continue LOTR. So, book 2 is in my near future ....

LauraJ Masochist! 8y
Bks4Wrms Good luck! I must not be as in love as you are 😉😜 because my husband has suggested both of these books to me and I refuse. 🙃 8y

britt_brooke @Bks4Wrms 🤣🤣🤣 I'm very hard-headed. I read the first LOTR a couple of years ago and was bored stiff. I was hoping it was enough, but, no. He says he reads everything I suggest. He's full of it. This is not over. 😆 (edited) 8y
readinginthedark 😂 My husband reads news articles and reference-style books about video games, so I don't have this problem. 8y
8little_paws Yikes Ayn Rand is horrible, good luck 8y
BeckaroniAndCheese Atlas Shrugged is my all-time favorite ever. I hope you enjoy it! 8y
PNWBookseller85 I loved LOTR as a teenager. Read it a few years ago and hated it. I mean not least because there are maybe 3 women in the whole series? And I'm pretty sure he describes every good guy as having suddenly stood taller and seemed kingly. 👑🙄 8y
kricheal Loved loved loved Atlas Shrugged. It's very wordy and full of speeches...but Dagny Taggart is one of my all time favorite heroines 8y
AshleyHoss820 This book is absolutely worth it. One of my lifelong friends kept asking me to read this and I kept putting it off. I'm not kidding when I say this book will change you. You may love it and you may hate it, but it makes you think. The love story, for me, was my least favorite part of the story-line. Keep in mind that there is a 70-page monologue...persevere!! 😄 8y
Vexingcircumstance Love LOTR. Couldn't get through a single chapter of Atlas Shrugged lol. 8y
LeahBergen I DID like Ayn Rand's We the Living when I read it. As for LOTR ... I read them all as a teen but they're not really my faves. Shhhh! 8y
LeahBergen Oh, and I read Ender's Game because my husband wanted me to - but that was an easy one! 😂 8y
tricours I haven't actually finished Atlas Shrugged, but I've read like 80% of it and loved it! 8y
Suet624 Ayn Rand and Paul Ryan are best friends. Enough said. 8y
JenP Ugh, enjoy that 😂. Better you than me 😜 8y
minkyb The hits just keep on coming! 8y
britt_brooke @AshleyHoss820 My husband said it changed him, too. 👍🏻 8y
britt_brooke @8little_paws The only Ayn Rand I've read it Anthem and it was awful. I'm curious about Atlas Shrugged, but I don't think I'm going to like it. 8y
britt_brooke @JenP 😆😆😆 8y
Reviewsbylola I read, and loved, Atlas Shrugged years ago. I'm not sure I could do it again though! 8y
LauraBeth My entire 24th Year was spent reading Atlas Shrugged. I read it so much that the guy I was dating at the time (who was an artist) painted multiple paintings of me reading that thing. Any picture of me taken during that year has Atlas Shrugged somewhere in the frame because I dragged it everywhere. I look back on it now and wonder why I read it. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it! 8y
britt_brooke @tricours 👍🏻👍🏻 8y
britt_brooke @LeahBergen I'm just not big on fantasy, but hubby will not give up on forcing me to finish LOTR. He called my book nerdiness into question! 😜 8y
britt_brooke @BeckaroniAndCheese 👍🏻👍🏻 8y
britt_brooke @LauraBeth Love that story! 8y
CuriousG I think it's a good one to read just to know what it's about. I read it just after I finished high school and loved it, but now look at it with disgust knowing that it is able-ist AF, and in my adult mind is completely lacking in any compassion and understanding in the complexity of humans. That being said, I'm still glad I read it. 8y
Bks4Wrms @britt_brooke My husband pulled the same crap asking me how I could call myself a true bookworm when I refuse to read LOTR! 😠 8y
Broke_Girl_Reads How do you feel about audiobooks? In my experience, LOTR is much easier to get through as a listen. I recommend the ones narrated by Rob Inglis 8y
Laura317 I kinda feel like @CuriousG does. And I am glad that I read it. 8y
readinginthedark I second @Broke_Girl_Reads ! Rob Inglis totally changed The Hobbit for me and made The Silmarillion amazing. Haven't gotten to the trilogy yet. 8y
AshleyHoss820 I absolutely LOVE The Hobbit but I have started and stopped LOTR three times. I listened to it on audiobook in high school (my Dad had this SWEET box set of cassette tapes...) and it was much better that way. The Tom Bombadil section just stops that story dead, for me. 8y
DogMomIrene @AshleyHoss820 😂I remember reading the Tom Bombadil section and calling my sister to ask if the hobbits ever got out of the Shire! 8y
Broke_Girl_Reads @readinginthedark right?! And he actually sings all the songs included in the books. It really makes the story come to life 8y
AshleyHoss820 @ocdIrene Hahahahaha! It sure doesn't feel like they will, does it!? 😂😂😂 8y
britt_brooke @Broke_Girl_Reads I've never tried an audiobook, but this is tempting. Thanks! @readinginthedark 8y
britt_brooke @Bks4Wrms 😬 Silly husbands. They know nothing!! 8y
britt_brooke @CuriousG I have a feeling I'm not going to be a fan, but I'm trying to go in with an open mind. 8y
