#TheBlob #SteveMcQueen #TheFly

Description
THis sci-fi classic follows the story of a shapeless, flesh-dissolving mass that emerges from a fallen meteor and grows larger with each victim it absorbs. At first scoffed at by the police, teenage hero steve Andrews (Steve McQueen) and his girlfriend J.

This was one of my favorite horror movie as a kid. Steve McQueen was one of my favorite actors too.

Another movie I loved too was The Fly.

Klou Awesome! I've never heard of the Blob, but I have heard of The Fly. 4y

Ok, so this is a bit of a stretch, because Dorian Gray is much more of a Faustian situation than a Jekyll & Hyde one, but the aspect of physical transformation and a weird form of suicide seemed to fit well for me. #monstermadness2017 #thefly

#MonsterMadness2017 #day10 #TheFly This was a difficult one to interpret.I don't really have any novels with a mad scientist in them, besides Frankenstein & Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde(which I could've used come to think of it!) so I'm nominating Dr Caroline Caldwell in this dystopian novel about a world where a fungus has decimated the worlds population. Her "science at all costs" attitude causes her to do very horrible things at the detriment of others.

Arcadia: A novel | Iain Pears

Angela Meerson is a scientist from the future. She is a bit mad, utterly brilliant and completely unpredictable. When she ends up experimenting on others and herself, it will have consequences for both the past, present and future #thefly

Laalaleighh I love Iain Pears. 7y
batsy I've only read this one by him and I really liked it. Need to read Arcadia! 7y

The main character of this story is Elaina Morgan, who created a virus to cure cancer and a jealous scientist mutated her virus to cause a zombie apocalypse. Elaina is a brilliant scientist, who was infected and started experimenting with a cure on herself. She isn't suicidal, but her desperation to find a lab can put her on that path.

WarpedSweetness Neither this book nor the first one are in Litsy's database, so I suggested them. 7y
athorne I suggest on occasion, but too many titles were never added that I just kinda gave up. If it's not on Litsy, I go quiet for a few days. 7y
WarpedSweetness @TheGhastlyGrimoire I keep suggesting. It gets discouraging when nothing I suggest gets added, but I keep doing it. Sometimes I am too stubborn. 7y

athorne @WarpedSweetness It's probably my biggest complaint about Litsy. Perhaps they should give users the ability to add books? Maybe even base it on their litfluence to discourage trolling and include a create a way to merge duplicate entries (which I see a ton of). 7y
athorne Or get a hold of the Goodreads API like other similar apps I've used and import the information from there. 7y

I struggled to think of a fictional character that isn‘t/hasn‘t already been a part of #MonsterMadness2017 so I have gone for one of many excellent real-life examples of self experimentation.

Barry Marshall is my choice for #TheFly
He won the nobel prize in physiology for his work on Helicobacter pylori and its role in peptic ulcer diseases. How did he confirm it‘s role? Why by infecting himself of course!

When it comes to scientists experimenting on themselves, there is one part of the tagged book that I just can't get out of my head (no matter how hard I try). It involves Isaac Newton and his eyeball. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go throw up...
