#MarchMadness #SportsStory

I am not much for sports books but make it Hawaii-set & I get interested. I have read Eddie Would Go (excellent) and the tagged book & the other two are still on my #TBR.

BookmarkTavern I really enjoyed Aloha Rodeo! It was very interesting! 5y

I read this when I was a kid. I was a big fan of Walter Farley's The Black Stallion series so I read this too. Fiction but based on facts.

TheAromaofBooks I really liked this one when I was a kid! I loved The Black Stallion also, and my other favorite was The Horse Tamer. 5y
ElizaMarie I want to say that his remains are at rest at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington (that I was able to visit during one of my contracts). But if not then there is at least a memorial to him. Also I want to say the street is named after him. 5y

TheSpineView @ElizaMarie Interesting, I did not know that. I would like to go to the Kentucky Horse Park. You would think as an avid rider and lifelong lover of horses I would have. 😏 5y
Eggs I love horse stories! 🐎 5y
TheSpineView @Eggs Are you a horse person too? 5y
Scochrane26 @ElizaMarie @TheSpineView We have a lot of streets named after horses in Lexington. I have lived in the area all my life but haven‘t been on a Ky horse park tour since I was a kid. I really need to go again. I love going to Keeneland for horse racing, & we also have harness racing at another venue. When things are better, come visit! 5y
TheSpineView @Scochrane26 I will definitely visit when it is safe to travel again!💜🏇 5y
Scochrane26 @TheSpineView Maybe in October, that‘s when the fall meet at keeneland is. 5y

Earlier this year, I listened to this guy‘s memoir. I don‘t expect everyone to know who this is, it‘s Petter Northug. One of the biggest stars in cross country ever. He won 15 world championship titles and 2 Olympic gold medals

In 2014, he was drunk driving and crashed his car

Thus, began the training for the comeback. The last seasons hadn‘t been that great. In 2015 he was the first male to win 4 golds

#SportsStory #MarchMadness @Eggs

Eggs A tragedy that reinforces all we know about drinking & driving🙁 5y
AnneCecilie @Eggs But it also shows that it is possible to come back from bad decisions, he broke several laws, and felt that he disappointed everyone (the nation, his friends and family) and decided this what not how he wanted to be remembered. And trained like crazy to get back to previous shape and he became historic. The only male ever to win 4 gold medals in a championship 5y
Eggs Amazing story 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 5y

Favorite part(s) of the Quidditch World Cup:
1. The Veela, of course.
2. Leprechauns! 🍀 (Although Veela are arguably more awesome, sorry Irish heritage.)
3. Omnioculars
4. Silly boys diving for Veela.
5. Crazy Quick Quidditch!
6. This wizard! 😆
7. Fred + George just might have second sight.
8. And...more Veela! (I might just be bewitched. BeVeelaed?)

#potteraday #sportsstory #marchmadness

Linsy Favorite/least favorite part? Leprechaun gold. Poor Ron!! 5y
sheshedbooks They call Veela charm "allure" right? I get confused what's still canon on HP. 5y
Linsy @greenreads Huh, I don't know. I didn't read that in this chapter. 5y

Pickpick

#MarchMadness Day 24: This is a #SportsStory like no other featuring women from various parts of the world who are not afraid of adversity, not afraid to win, and definitely not afraid of their own strength and fortitude. Speaking of diversity and inclusion, the book not only shared female weightlifters and body builders, but also athletes who are differently abled. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-jtl

Eggs Perfect 👌🏼 5y

This was part of my library's June picks and since reading a #sportsstory is on of the #readharder challenges, I'm giving it a try. I didn't realize it would be a first person account, though, and I'm not sure this will be a book for me. But I'm going to finish anyway!
