My #bookreport for the week. I‘ve had a little more time on my hands, as business changes wind down for now. And I just wasn‘t motivated to do any business tasks. Hence ... baking and reading!

#finished 4, 2 of which were super short.
#starting 3 more this week

And the Band 5/5 #nonfictionchallenge2020 #somethinglgbtqia
Tell the Wolves 5/5 #MAYBeNow #buddyreas
A Long Walk 3/5 #irlbookgroup
Play It as It Lays 3.75/5 #setinhollywood #booked2020

Cinfhen Great reading week, my friend ♥️ 5y

Pickpick

This is 600 pages of intense details, drawn from thousands of interviews with 900+ people. Despite being published in 1987, it remains one of the most definitive books on the history of AIDS and the gay community. The public health and epidemiology parallels with today are strong, as are the moments of political wrangling and protest. 5 stars

DebinHawaii I watched the movie, actually a few times over the years and have always meant to read the book. 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @DebinHawaii I really want to watch the movie. Also A Normal Heart from Larry Kramer, who‘s a big part of the book. The book is just so well done. 5y
DebinHawaii @BarbaraTheBibliophage Thanks! I‘ll put that one on my list too. 5y

charl08 I want to read this one - read and thought France's book was amazing. 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @charl08 Oh, I‘m glad to know about David France‘s book. I already own it, and would like to read it in the next few weeks. I think they will make a good pair! 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa I really need to get reading my nonfiction piles... this one I probably should have read ages ago. 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa It‘s been a little dicey to read nonfiction lately ... 5y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraTheBibliophage Yea, I‘ve definitely been feeling that way 5y
quirkyreader I read this when it first came out. What‘s unsettling is that there is still no cure. 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @quirkyreader It is unsettling, although treatment is much improved. At the time of this book, there was practically nothing. But after all this time, there‘s no vaccine. It‘s a dose of reality as we discuss a C19 vaccine as if it‘s a done deal. 5y
Reggie I remember when the couple went to the tarot card reader and she spells out that the guy has toxoplasmosis. That the boyfriend thinks she‘s a fraud cause only cats get it. Little did they know. I read this book over 15 years ago. Thinking about some of it still makes me angry. 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Reggie Right! That was pretty amazing. It‘s definitely got a lot of content. 5y
