American Royals IV: Reign | Katharine McGee
post image

As Teddy stood, and the opening notes of the national anthem reverberated through the throne room, Beatrice realized what it meant.
The reign of America‘s first queen had officially begun, at last.

Nina hurried down the last few steps, then glanced over her shoulder. “I don‘t know what‘s going to happen. But when it‘s all over and the dust has settled, this country will never be the same again.”

Though published five years later, this sequel to #TheRoyalWe starts a mere few weeks after the conclusion of the first book. Hiding out in #Wigtown, Bex & Nick try to put the scandal that broke on their royal wedding behind them— but they can‘t stay away forever… Returning to the spotlight, they both work on repairing relationships & their future. Queen Eleanor really steals the show here & I loved her scenes the most! Such a fun duology!

Hard to believe this one came out ten years ago! Since its release in 2015, with the sequel out 5 years later, I decided to re-read this one to fully enjoy the whole duology! And I‘m so glad— while I clearly remembered the central, larger than life romance of an Iowan foreign exchange student meeting and falling in love with a prince, I had forgotten the side dramas between the friends & her twin that added so much more to this romance! So fun!

JenlovesJT47 I really liked this one, didn‘t know there was a sequel! 3w
TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 The first one definitely had some Sweet Valley vibes!! 🤣 3w
JenlovesJT47 Lol it‘s been years since I read it so I might do a reread then grab the sequel. One thing that stands out to me is the girl is named Bex, right? Very thinly veiled fan fiction about Will and Kate lol. 3w

TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 Yes! Very thinly veiled about them… though I do think this storyline plays out a few times in Sweet Valley! It‘s all the funnier because I think in either this one or the sequel, they reference SVH! 🤣 3w
JenlovesJT47 Ooh I don‘t remember that, I definitely have to do a reread! 3w
TorieStorieS @JenlovesJT47 I enjoyed them both!! 3w

A royal trying to be anonymous in Rome. Sweet story. I DNF-ed the other two stories in this collection (a Sally Thorne and a Jasmine Guillory) but thoroughly enjoyed the four I reviewed.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was interesting—a biography of Queen Elizabeth told through more than a hundred vignettes from throughout her life. I enjoyed the author‘s similar book, 99 Glimpses of Princess Margaret. This one was long at 20 hours, but the vignettes break it up nicely. A pick for anyone predisposed to be interested in books about the royal family.

I finished this one while having coffee from my Grabdmother‘s Christmas china ♥️☕️

This was cute! It drew my attention because it has a food-centric story where Emma is a culinary instructor trying to move her business to an industrial kitchen space. She falls for a professor who is really the crown prince of a fictional European country. I loved all of the food and cooking, Emma and Michel were cute, and I adored all of the supporting cast.

intothehallofbooks I received a copy of this from Griffin via NetGalley a few months ago but had trouble getting into my eARC. There is a lot of Korean language used especially at the beginning and having the paper book in my hand helped with a lot of the flipping back and forth. Many thanks to Griffin for the opportunity to read this one and for putting it on my radar. 3mo

There was a whole thing on socials last week where someone called the author a pedo bc the MCs name is the same as a middle name of a 12yo Swedish prince. MC of this book is in his 20s &there‘s a disclaimer about this being fictional
“reader” doubled down, claimed this was an author behaving badly even though you cant just call someone a pedo
But as the MC sped away in a speedboat from the paparazzi I realized this book was aggressively not for me
