“Adieu to disappointment and spleen. What are men to rocks and mountains? Oh! what hours of transport we shall spend!”
For Lizzy, men are #nothing compared to rocks and mountains! I‘m a day behind for #QuotsyJan18, but came across two fitting quotes for yesterday‘s prompt in my reading today! I‘m SO enjoying my P&P re-read—I‘d forgotten how well-crafted it is, not to mention all the witty epigrams scattered throughout. I 💜 Jane Austen!
“There are few people whom I really love, and still fewer of whom I think well. The more I see of the world, the more am I dissatisfied with it; and everyday confirms my belief of the inconsistency of all human characters, and of the little dependence that can be placed on the appearance of either merit or sense.”
Lizzy sees #nothing in the world to contradict her pessimism about humanity. I too often agree with her!

“For convenience, history is often viewed as a conflict between the instinct for order and the impulse toward chaos. Both are necessary: both are manifestations of the need to survive. Without order, #nothing exists: without chaos, nothing grows. And yet the struggle between them sheds more blood than any other war.” #QuotsyJan18
Page one of Janne Teller's brilliant, provocative YA book about meaning. One kid says #nothing matters so his classmates set out to prove him wrong. A quick but thought-provoking read. I highly recommend! (Although it is a real love-it-or-hate-it book.) TW for rape.
