Tell Me Everything | Elizabeth Strout
post image
Pickpick

Talk about a #mustreadauthor. Had to go grab this latest Lucy Barton, where Strout brings a bunch of characters, including cranky 90yo Olive, together. Let‘s hope it‘s not the last 📚🤞🏼💕.

BarbaraBB I hope so too 2mo

Lucashenko is a Goorie (Aboriginal) author who has become a #mustreadauthor for me. Her #ozfiction is punchy, raw and very entertaining. Her novels explore the true history of Australia and I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to better understand what went on here in an accessible way. Having just read a non-fiction book about the Native Police in Queensland I appreciated reading a fictional account here. Bravo 👏
❤️💛🖤

Rissreads I‘ve just started this! 9mo

This is Amor‘s third novel. We read his second A Gentleman in Moscow for bookclub a couple of years ago. It was universally acclaimed, which is unusual in our club.

Amor says he tries to head in a completely different direction with each novel & this is very different to Gentleman. It felt a tiny bit reminiscent of Of Mice & Men 🤔.

Think he might‘ve become a #mustreadauthor for me. Need to get my hands on his first Rules of Civility now.

Rissreads I can lend it to you, it‘s good! 3y
erzascarletbookgasm That endorsement from one of my favourite authors makes me want to read this more! 3y

This is Hannah Kent‘s third novel. She is a #mustreadauthor for me. Her books champion women on the fringes. Historical fiction with a twist. Her writing is sublime. It‘s a ‘yes‘ from me. #ozfiction ❤️

TheKidUpstairs I can't wait until this one comes out, but I think it's months away from Canadian publication! 3y
Jeg Great review. Looking forward to reading it. 3y

This is the third novel I‘ve read of Favel Parrett‘s. It is the second of her three books and she has become a #mustreadauthor for me. My favourite is still her first novel, Past The Shallows.

In this book her stunning yet sparse prose illuminates Tasmania and Antarctica, and I loved her beautifully drawn characters.

I‘m ready and waiting for her next offering 🤗🤞😍.

Maybe the Horse Will Talk | Elliot Perlman

Full disclosure: I‘m a serious Perlman fan. I‘ve read all his published fiction. This is his latest novel and I couldn‘t resist bumping it to the top of my gargantuan #tbr.

Contemporary, observant, funny and clever. It explores sexual misconduct in the workplace and the pressures of modern life, with a bit of love story thrown in for good measure.

Perlman is a great Australian novelist. #mustreadauthor

CarolynM Great review. I started Seven Types of Ambiguity when it first came out but didn't make it very far. I didn't dislike it, but in the midst of young children my concentration wasn't up to it. I always intended to try again but I haven't yet. This one looks good. 5y
Rissreads @CarolynM You must try 7 types of ambiguity again, it is brilliant. Alas another for my the list 😬 5y

And the Mountains Echoed | Khaled Hosseini

This was wonderful. Epic, beautiful but very accessible. Storytelling that hooked me in from the beginning.

I‘ve read all three of Hosseini‘s novels and reckon he might just be a #mustreadauthor for me.

RachelAmphlett I haven‘t read that one yet, but must - I‘ve devoured his other books. 5y
Freespirit Loved his other books..stacked...it sounds great too!🤗 5y
Jeg I have it from the library but waiting a bit before I read it! 😊. Glad you liked it . 5y
MrsMalaprop @jeg I would have preferred to wait until closer to our meeting, but I‘ll be in Bali just before, where I may not get it finished! 5y

The Testaments: A Novel | Margaret Atwood
post image
Pickpick

I loved it. It had me on a roller coaster of emotions. Shock, fear, anxiety, anger, disbelief. And I found the ending satisfying.

I haven‘t read a lot of Margaret Atwood. Maybe 5 of her books? But after reading 2 in the last few months, I am realizing I need to go back and read everything she‘s written, and also add her to my #MustReadAuthor list.

I know I‘ll keep thinking about this book for a while. That‘s high praise!

JackOBotts I haven‘t read many of her novels but The Blind Assassin was terrific! 5y
AmyG Oooo high praise! I am reading this now, but we have friends in....so not much reading. The husband goes away on Tuesday! And that means...I can really dig in and I am even more excited. 5y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I can‘t wait to read this one!!! 5y
