The book is split into two parts, and, while the language and characters are wonderful, I just didn't feel engaged with the story for part one, to the point I almost stopped reading; however, just before the split, the story explodes, and it was a quick read after that. There is a beautiful normalcy in the interactions between the deaf and hearing characters on Martha's Vineyard, and the author takes great care to describe the signing.

3✨ it reminded me of other stories I read. Going into another place to find someone they care about and they meet common creatures like a rat, but also discovering unique creatures. It was a pretty cute story. I found myself chuckling at quite a few spots.

I started this middle grade read today, and I think it‘s going to be perfect for December. It‘s been on my shelf a long time, but I‘m just now finally picking it up for the children‘s classic read with @TheBookHippie

📷: Luthien just came in from running in the snow and had a bath. Now, she and La Gata are ready to snuggle in for the evening.

It‘s been several years since I read Code Talkers, but it is still one of my favorite historical fiction books set during WWII. Grenade is about the Battle of Okinawa. The books on the right are nonfiction for middle grade readers.

Karisimo I almost used Code Breaker for my post 😊 2d
Daisey @Karisimo It‘s a good one! I really should reread it at some point. 1d

4⭐️ I read this due to Libby doing a big read and my home library having a challenge related to this book. I was pleasantly surprised with this book and quite enjoyed it. #2025 #fiction #middlegrade #fantasy #magicalrealism

You can use this quote to kick off a discussion about setting and expectations in a story. Students can talk about why the character thinks nothing exciting will happen and then look for how the book proves that wrong.

is a fun book for kids because it has mystery and silly moments set on the moon. Students usually get into it pretty easily, even the ones who don‘t love reading. It‘s also nice for teachers because you can talk about clues, teamwork, and thinking through problems. It‘s just a good, easy pick for a classroom.
